Ferro-pedrizite, NaLi2(Fe2+ 2Al2Li)Si8O22(OH)2, a new amphibole-supergroup mineral from the Sutlug pegmatite, Tyva Republic, Russia
2015
Ferro-pedrizite, a new amphibole-supergroup mineral was discovered in the Sutlug pegmatite occurrence situated in the Targi River Basin, Tyva Republic, Eastern Sibera, Russia. The associated minerals are quartz, albite, microcline, spodumene, cassiterite, beryl, columbite-(Mn), fergusonite-β-(Y), fluorapatite, schorl, trilithionite and fluorite. Ferro-pedrizite forms dark grey-blue to violet-blue acicular and long prismatic crystals up to 2 × 5 × 50 mm and their aggregates. D meas = 3.16(1) g/cm3 (by hydrostatic weighing), 3.13(1) g/cm3 (by flotation in heavy liquids); D calc = 3.135 g/cm3. Ferro-pedrizite is optically biaxial (−), α = 1.614(3), β = 1.638(3), γ = 1.653(3), 2 V meas = 75(5)°…
Experimental study on the solubility of the “model”-pelite mineral assemblage albite + K-feldspar + andalusite + quartz in supercritical chloride-ric…
2001
A total of 34 solubility experiments using the “model”-pelite mineral assemblage microcline + low albite + andalusite + quartz were performed at 600°C and 0.2 GPa over a total chloride range of 0.03–2.9 molal. The concentrations of sodium, potassium, aluminum, and silica were measured and the results are compared with four different thermodynamic datasets. The K/Na ratio was approached from below and above for the thermodynamically buffered mineral assemblage microcline + low albite + andalusite + quartz. Tight brackets were obtained for experiments performed in up to 1 molal chloride concentration. From 0.03 to ∼1 molal chloride concentration, a constant K/Na ratio of 0.33 was obtained. At…
Trap spectroscopy and tunnelling luminescence in feldspars
1998
Abstract Comparative studies of tunnel luminescence, thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL), and trap energy spectra by the fractional glow technique (FGT) have been made both with sanidine and microcline feldspars. After X-irradiation at LNT these feldspars show intense tunnelling afterglow. As the temperature is raised, several TSL glow peaks may be observed, starting at 135 K. An intense peak at 250 K is common to all four investigated microclines. In samples of sanidine, tunnelling afterglow overcomes TSL up to 250–260 K. With sanidine and microcline samples, the distributions of trap activation energies vs temperature obtained by the FGT are continuous and quasi-linear. Maxima in the …
Spectrochemical Rubidium-Strontium Method for Geological Age Determination
1960
The age values of lepidolites from South Africa and from Varutrask as well as that of a microcline from Varutrask have been determined and are discussed in connection with determination according to the potassium-argon method, applied to the same materials A method is suggested which allows the spectrochemical determination of Rb and Sr with sufficient accuracy. The isotopic composition is determined by means of a Fabry-Perot etalon and hollow-cathode excitation, investigating the hyper-fine structure of the Sr line at 4078 A.
