Microscale Marangoni actuation: All-optical and all-electrical methods

We present experimental results from an all-optical microfluidic platform that may be complimented by a thin film all-electrical network. Using these configurations we have studied the microfluidic convective flow systems of silicone oil, glycerol, and 1,3,5-trinitrotoluene on open surfaces through the production of surface tension gradients derived from thermal gradients. We show that sufficient localized thermal variation can be created utilizing surface plasmons and/or engaging individually addressable resistive thermal elements. International audience; We present the results of a study in which biomolecular interaction analysis (BIA, Biacore 2000) was combined with mass spectrometry (MS) using entire "on-a-chip" procedure. Most BIA-MS studies included an elution step of the analyte prior MS analysis. Here, we report a low-cost approach combining Biacore analysis with homemade chips and MS in situ identification onto the chips without elution step. Microfluidic Fabrication of Physically Assembled Nanogels and Micrometric Fibers by Using a Hyaluronic Acid Derivative

The employ of a hyaluronic acid (HA) derivative, bearing octadecyl (C18) and ethylenediamine (EDA) groups, for microfluidic fabrication of nanogels and microfibers is reported in this study. Two HA-EDA-C18 derivatives (125 and 320 kDa) having ionic strength sensitive properties are synthesized and characterized. The control of the rheological properties of HA-EDA-C18 aqueous dispersions by formation of inclusion complexes with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrins (HPCD) is described. Reversibility of C18/HPCD complexation and physical crosslinking is detected in media with different ionic strength through oscillation frequency tests.
