The aim of this study was to observe the microcirculation characteristics of the human interdental papilla in healthy patients in vivo. Twenty healthy patients were examined. Capillaroscopy was used to investigate the characteristics of microcirculation of the human periodontal mucosa. Visibility, course, tortuosity, as well as the average caliber of the capillary loops and the number of visible capillary loops per square millimeter were evaluated for each patient. The investigation of gingival mucosa revealed capillary loops with a course both parallel and perpendicular to the surface. Non-seminomatous germ cell tumours of the testis (NSGCT) form a heterogeneous group of neoplasms. Cell lines derived from NSGCT may provide useful data concerning the biology of neoplasic precursor germ cells, differentiation of tumour stem cells and the relationship between various tissue components of these tumours. Liquid nitrogen is the most common medium used by tissue banks for the storage of cryopreserved heart valves. This study evaluates the effect of the length of storage on human cryopreserved heart valves. Human tissues (14 aortic and 13 pulmonary) were frozen in a controlled-rate freezer (1 degrees C/min) and stored in the liquid phase of a nitrogen tank for 9.1+/-1.6 years. The preservative solution was medium M199 containing 5% human serum albumin and 10% Me(2)SO. After thawing in a water bath at 42 degrees C, the cryoprotectant was removed. Seminomas and non-seminomatous testicular germ cell tumours were studied for the presence of cytokeratin and vimentin filaments and desmosomes using immunohistochemical methods. In the majority of the classical seminomas and in seminomatous areas of mixed tumours most tumour cells appeared to lack cytokeratin filaments. Some seminomas contained a focally variable proportion of cells exhibiting cytokeratin-positive structures while other cases contained only few seminoma cells with a well developed fibrillar cytokeratin network. The goal of this study was to investigate the in vitro-in vivo correlation (IVIVC) for fenofibrate immediate release (IR) tablet formulations based on MeltDose-technique. We report the evaluation of oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) in a large northern German family, which can be traced back six generations and is unrelated to French-Canadian families. The symptoms in this family start at about 50 years of age and include dysphagia, bilateral ptosis, and in some cases a slowly progressive atrophy and weakness of other extraocular, facial or limb girdle muscles.
