Dominance of microstructural processes and their effect on microstructural development: insights from numerical modelling of dynamic recrystallization

The influence of the dominance of different processes on the microstructural development of a quarzite has been numerically modelled using the modelling system Elle. In the model dynamic recrystallization of a polycrystalline aggregate has been simulated by a combination of viscous deformation, lattice rotation, subgrain formation, rotation recrystallization, nucleation of new grains and recovery. Different combinations of the dominance of processes are considered by variations in values of the grain boundary mobility and the energy threshold value for recrystallization by nucleation of new grains. Influence of temperature and NaCl on the release in aqueous liquid media of aroma compounds encapsulated in edible films

This work analyses the release of n-hexanal and D-limonene from edible films, previously encapsulated in the iota-carrageenan matrix (with and without lipid). Both volatile compounds have different physicochemical properties. The effect of temperature (25 degrees C and 37 degrees C) and dissolution medium (water and 0.9% NaCl) on the release and retention of aroma compounds were studied. Hydrophobicity and wettability properties of active iota-carrageenan films were also studied and they were related with the internal and surface microstructure of films. Magnetically Induced Cavitation for the Dispersion of Particles in Liquid Metals

A contactless excitation of cavitation is possible by superposition of induction heating with a static axial magnetic field. This creates an alternating electromagnetic body force in a liquid metal which in turn produces pressure oscillations. Abstract We review methods to estimate the average crystal (grain) size and the crystal (grain) size distribution in solid rocks. Average grain sizes often provide the base for stress estimates or rheological calculations requiring the quantification of grain sizes in a rock’s microstructure. Structure and composition of model cheeses influence sodium NMR mobility, kinetics of sodium release and sodium partition coefficients

Our aim was to investigate microstructural tissue changes of the trigeminal nerve in patients with trigeminal neuralgia resulting from neurovascular compression by diffusion tensor imaging, and to test the predictive value of diffusion tensor imaging for determining outcomes after radiofrequency rhizotomy. Microstructure of rat behavioral response to anxiety in hole-board

Aim of present research was to assess, by means of descriptive and multivariate approaches, in Wistar rats tested in hole-board apparatus, whether a microstructure of hole exploratory behavior may be identified in the behavioral response to anxiety. Two groups of 15 subjects were tested: one received 1 ml of saline IP and one was IP injected with diazepam at 0.5 mg/kg dissolved in 1 ml of saline. Following saline, six not yet reported hole-exploratory components were identified: active-dip, static-dip, rapid-dip, circular-sniff, point-sniff and central-sniff.
