Researches regarding the reducing of burr size by optimising the cutting parameters on a CNC milling machine

2017

This paper presents some experimental researches regarding burrs dimensions reduction that appear after the milling process together with an approach to reduce or eliminate the burrs resulted after this process. In order to reduce burrs dimensions, the milling process was executed with different cutting parameters and strategies then the results were evaluated.

Profilin1 activity in cerebellar granule neurons is required for radial migration in vivo.

2014

Neuron migration defects are an important aspect of human neuropathies. The underlying molecular mechanisms of such migration defects are largely unknown. Actin dynamics has been recognized as an important determinant of neuronal migration, and we recently found that the actin-binding protein profilin1 is relevant for radial migration of cerebellar granule neurons (CGN). As the exploited brain-specific mutants lacked profilin1 in both neurons and glial cells, it remained unknown whether profilin1 activity in CGN is relevant for CGN migration in vivo. To test this, we capitalized on a transgenic mouse line that expresses a tamoxifen-inducible Cre variant in CGN, but no other cerebellar cell …

Experimental investigation and multi-scale modelling of the behavior of mechanically activated metallic powders : from binary systems to High Entropy…

2021

Generally, metal alloys consist of a main element associated with other elements present in smaller quantities such as iron, nickel, aluminum or copper alloys. The precise composition of an alloy is adjusted according to the required performance: high temperature behavior, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, durability ... In 2004, a Taiwanese scientist, JW Yeh, had the idea of making an alloy base of several elements, at least 5, whose composition in the alloy varies between 5% and 30% at. Yeh invented the high entropy alloy (HEA). Mixed on a microscopic scale, the metals form a remarkably stable solid solution. The explanation is thermodynamic. An alloy is all the more stable as …

Microstructure-process relationship and reactivity at the nanoscale : a molecular dynamics study of Ni, Ni-Al, and Ti-Al metallic systems

2023

The process-microstructure relationship is central in materials science because the microstructure will determine the properties of the materials developed by the processes. In our work, we focused on different metallurgical processes by adopting a description at the atomic scale. This approach allows us to detect the elementary mechanisms that are at the origin of the observed microstructures without having to postulate macroscopic mechanisms or estimate the associated parameters. In this respect, molecular dynamics simulations provide a tool for "in-situ" observation of metallic systems as long as an atomic interaction potential is available. The originality of our approach consists in mo…

Experimental Study of Vibrations in Face Milling Cutting

2014

The paper consists of a research in designing and experimental analysis using a face milling cutter with round inserts. A general model for the new cutter is proposed taking into consideration multiple aspects regarding monitoring and controling the milling process. A comparison of measured vibrations when cutting with different parameters for two constructions of the milling head is presented. The objective of this vibration comparison is to verify wether the new design behaves in similar way with the classic and proven concept of insert clamping using a central screw.

Luminescence properties of neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet obtained by the co-precipitation method combined with the mechanical process.

2005

Nanopowders of yttrium aluminium garnet Y3Al5O12 (YAG) doped with neodymium ions were obtained by the co-precipitation method from the reaction of aluminium and yttrium nitrate and neodymium oxide with ammonia. After washing and drying the hydroxide precursors were calcined at 500, 700, 800 and 900 °C for 1 hour and at 1000 °C for 3 hours. This product was treated by ball milling in a zirconia vial for 0.5, 1.5 and 10 h in order to achieve smaller nanoparticles. The structure, microstructure, morphology and optical properties were investigated by means of diffractometric, microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. The course of the amorphous-to-crystalline transformation was complete after c…

The Pratz le Curtillet settlement

2016

Among the earliest habitats of the early Middle Ages studied in Franche-Comté, the Pratz le Curtillet a settlement sets itself apart by its location in the Jura highlands, renowned for its remoteness and inhospitable landscapes. On the Lizon plateau, the scope of the archaeological work explored on the 16 hectares and the quality of the remains still constitute an exceptional complex today. An imposing 16m by 13m stone building flanked by an annex forms the residential part of the estate, while sheltering fodder and livestock, while the second building houses a forge. Domestic and artisanal equipment provide ample documentation on the living conditions of this small community of high status…

Ball-milling and AlB2 addition effects on the hydrogen sorption properties of the CaH2 + MgB2 system

2011

Abstract Among the borohydrides proposed for solid state hydrogen storage, Ca(BH 4 ) 2 is particularly interesting because of its favourable thermodynamics and relatively cheap price. Composite systems, where other species are present in addition to the borohydride, show some advantages in hydrogen sorption properties with respect to the borohydrides alone, despite a reduction of the theoretical storage capacity. We have investigated the milling time influence on the sorption properties of the CaH 2  + MgB 2 system from which Ca(BH 4 ) 2 and MgH 2 can be synthesized by hydrogen absorption process. Manometric and calorimetric measurements showed better kinetics for long time milled samples. …

Legionellosis Outbreak Associated with Asphalt Paving Machine, Spain, 2009

2010

From 1999 through 2005 in Alcoi, Spain, incidence of legionellosis was continually high. Over the next 4 years, incidence was lower, but an increase in July 2009 led health authorities to declare an epidemic outbreak. A molecular epidemiology investigation showed that the allelic profiles for all Legionella pneumophila samples from the 2009 outbreak patients were the same, thus pointing to a common genetic origin for their infections, and that they were identical to that of the organism that had caused the previous outbreaks. Spatial-temporal and sequence-based typing analyses indicated a milling machine used in street asphalt repaving and its water tank as the most likely sources. As oppos…
