Die mit Hypokaliamie, Uberproduktion von Mineralocorticoiden (Aldosteron und/oder Corticosteron und Desoxycorticosteron) und Aktivitatsanderungen des Renin-Angiotensinsystems einhergehenden Hochdrucksformen werden beschrieben. Aldosterone synthase activity in the Y-1 adrenal cell line.

The Y-1 adrenal cell line was shown to produce 20 alpha-dihydroaldosterone from deoxycorticosterone. This compound was identified by GC-MS by comparison with the previously synthesized reference compound. Two other 18-hydroxylated metabolites were identified as 11 beta,18-dihydroxy-20 alpha-dihydroprogesterone from endogenous cholesterol and 18-hydroxy-20 alpha-dihydro-11-dehydrocorticosterone from DOC. The conditions necessary for the synthesis of these compounds are culturing in 20% serum-supplemented medium and repeated incubations with the substrate. Congenital adrenal hypoplasia and hearing loss. A case report

We report on the diagnostics, the therapeutics and the follow-up (to 3 years and 5 months) of a newborn affected by X-linked congenital adrenal hypoplasia. After the beginning of substitute hormonal therapy, the patient underwent periodical clinical examinations, with particular attention to the growth, and laboratory tests, which monitored the hormonal pattern. This experience points out the diagnostic role of low maternal levels of urinary estriol during pregnancy and the importance of a prolonged follow-up, so as to discover associated pathologies as early as possible.
