International audience; This paper examines the ability of the dynamic optimization model to predict changes between in-phase and anti-phase postural modes of coordination and to evaluate influence of two particular environmental and intentional constraints on postural strategy. The task studied was based on an experimental paradigm that consisted in tracking a target motion with the head. Nonlinear droop control for minimum power losses operation in islanded microgrids

In this work, a modified primary regulation technique is proposed to control one of the inverter interfaced units feeding an islanded microgrid. The proposed approach employs an off-line minimum losses Optimal Power Flow, OPF, to extract a lookup table for the composition of the droop curve. Simulations prove that generators reach an operating point that corresponds to a minimum loss operation for the relevant power flow distribution. Since OPF has been implemented with frequency and voltage dependent models, the results of the modified droop are stable and also energy efficient. Because traditional manual crack surveys are dangerous, time consuming, and expensive, technologies have been developed to collect high-speed pavement images, and numerous algorithms have been proposed to detect cracks on pavement surface. [EN] On-line performance indicators of a microalgae-bacteria consortium were screened out from different variables based on pH and dissolved oxygen on-line measurements via multivariate projection analysis, aiming at finding on-line key state indicators to easily monitor the process. To fulfil this objective, a pilot-scale high-rate pond for urban wastewater treatment was evaluated under highly variable conditions, i.e. during the start-up period. Control of food spoilage fungi by ethanol

This review discusses the effects of ethanol on the inhibition of growth and germination of fungi and on the inactivation of fungal spores. After a brief survey on the impact of spoilage fungi on the economy and food quality, the major applications of ethanol in controlling fruit decay and extending the shelf-life of food products are reviewed. Many parameters including minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and D-values for various moulds are included. The thermodynamic relationship between the liquid phase and the headspace and the mode of action of ethanol on fungi are explained. Due to their promising use as a fumigant, special attention is paid to ethanol vapours.

We describe two different bootstrap methods applied to the detection of a minimum spanning tree obtained from a set of multivariate variables. We show that two different bootstrap procedures provide partly distinct information that can be highly informative about the investigated complex system. Our case study, based on the investigation of daily returns of a portfolio of stocks traded in the US equity markets, shows the degree of robustness and completeness of the information extracted with popular information filtering methods such as the minimum spanning tree and the planar maximally filtered graph.
