New Results in Generalized Minimum Variance Control of Computer Networks
2014
In this paper new results in adaptive (generalized) minimum variance control of packet switching computer networks are presented. New solutions, corresponding to the new inverses of the nonsquare polynomial matrices, can be used for design of robust control of multivariable systems with different number of inputs and outputs. Application of polynomial matrix inverses with arbitrary degrees of freedom creates the possibilities to optimal control of computer networks in terms of usage their maximal bandwidth. Simulation examples made in Matlab environment show big potential of presented approach. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5755/j01.itc.43.3.6268
The linear saturated decentralized strategy for constrained flow control is asymptotically optimal
2013
We present an algorithm for constrained network flow control in the presence of an unknown demand. Our algorithm is decentralized in the sense that it is implemented by a team of agents, each controlling just the flow on a single arc of the network based only on the buffer levels at the nodes at the extremes of the arc, while ignoring the actions of other agents and the network topology. We prove that our algorithm is also stabilizing and steady-state optimal. Specifically, we show that it asymptotically produces the minimum-norm flow. We finally generalize our algorithm to networks with a linear dynamics and we prove that certain least-square optimality properties still hold.
Iedzīvotāju ienākuma nodokļa progresīvās likmes piemērošanas un neapliekamā minimuma analīze
2019
Unraveling the SARS-CoV-2 Main Protease Mechanism Using Multiscale Methods
2020
We present a detailed theoretical analysis of the reaction mechanism of proteolysis catalyzed by the main protease of SARS-CoV-2. Using multiscale simulation methods, we have characterized the interactions established by a peptidic substrate in the active site, and then we have explored the free energy landscape associated with the acylation and deacylation steps of the proteolysis reaction, characterizing the transition states of the process. Our mechanistic proposals can explain most of the experimental observations made on the highly similar ortholog protease of SARS-CoV. We point to some key interactions that may facilitate the acylation process and thus can be crucial in the design of …
A theoretical study of solvent effects on the conformational equilibria of neutral glycine in aqueous solution
2003
Abstract In this work conformational equilibrium of neutral glycine in solution is systematically investigated by using DFT and MP2 methods combined with solvent continuum models. A systematic exploration of the potential energy surface and full geometry optimizations for several conformers have been carried out in the gas phase and aqueous solution at the MP2/6-31+G** and B3LYP/6-31+G** levels. Zero-point and thermal contributions to the free energy have been obtained at the B3LYP level. Both theoretical levels lead to very similar results, in geometrical and energetic terms, both in the gas phase and in solution. Solvent effects play an important role on the conformational equilibria of n…
EFFICIENT MACHINE LEARNING FRAMEWORK FOR COMPUTER-AIDED DETECTION OF CEREBRAL MICROBLEEDS USING THE RADON TRANSFORM
2014
International audience; Recent developments of susceptibility weighted MR techniques have improved visualization of venous vasculature and underlying pathologies such as cerebral microbleed (CMB). CMBs are small round hypointense lesions on MRI images that are emerging as a potential biomarker for cerebrovascular disease. CMB manual rating has limited reliability, is time-consuming and is prone to errors as small CMBs can be easily missed or mistaken for venous crosssections. This paper presents a computer-aided detection technique that utilizes a novel cascade of random forest classifiers which are trained on robust Radon-based features with an unbalanced sample distribution. The training …
Maintaining Dynamic Minimum Spanning Trees: An Experimental Study
2010
AbstractWe report our findings on an extensive empirical study on the performance of several algorithms for maintaining minimum spanning trees in dynamic graphs. In particular, we have implemented and tested several variants of the polylogarithmic algorithm by Holm et al., sparsification on top of Frederickson’s algorithm, and other (less sophisticated) dynamic algorithms. In our experiments, we considered as test sets several random, semi-random and worst-case inputs previously considered in the literature together with inputs arising from real-world applications (e.g., a graph of the Internet Autonomous Systems).
How do startups develop internet-of-things systems : a multiple exploratory case study
2019
Internet-of-Things applications are not only the new opportunity for digital businesses but also a major driving force for the modification and creation of software systems in all industries and businesses. Compared to other types of software-intensive products, the development of Internet-of-Things applications lacks a systematic approach and guidelines. This paper aims at understanding the methodological commonalities among startups who are developing Internet-of-Things products. Using the SEMAT Essence framework, we captured common team compositions, common types of Minimum Viable Products and common way of working in early stage Internet-of-Things startups. We found that startups includ…
The present article describes Citizens' Basic Income, and sets this in contrast to minimum incomes, including a description of the guaranteed citizenship income of the País Valencià. Citizens' Basic Income is a tool for social transformation linked to emancipating social intervention.
