Polymetallic oxalate-based 2D magnets: Soluble molecular precursors for the nanostructuration of magnetic oxides

Here we describe the synthesis and magnetic characterization of a family of 2D polymetallic oxalate-bridged polymeric networks with general formula [M(II)(H(2)O)(2)](3)[M(III)(ox)(3)](2)(18-crown-6)(2) (M(III) = Cr, Fe; M(II) = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni; 18-crown-6 = C(12)H(24)O(6)). Depending on the nature of the trivalent metal ion, they exhibit ferro- (Cr(3+)) or ferrimagnetic (Fe(3+)) ordering in the 3.6-20 K interval. In contrast with most of the oxalate-bridged CPs reported so far, these complexes do not need any additional templating cation for their assembly and represent the first series of oxalate-based polymeric networks which can be considered intrinsically neutral. Time-resolved X-ray diffraction experiments carried out at the beamline BM08-GILDA of ESRF allowed a study of the structural modifications taking place in a Pt/ceria-zirconia catalyst while the CO oxidation reaction was in progress. The capillary tube in which the sample is stored acts effectively as a chemical microreactor that ensures homogeneity of the sample treatments and minimization of diffusion effects. During the flowing of the reactant CO/He mixture, the investigated catalyst undergoes a fast Ce(IV)-Ce(III) partial reduction that involves the release of one O atom for every two reduced Ce cations. Selective oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane over MoVSbO mixed oxide catalysts

Abstract Mo–V–Sb–O mixed metal oxides were prepared, characterized and tested for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane (ODH). These catalysts are active and selective in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene, although their catalytic performance depends strongly on the calcination temperature. The best catalytic results were obtained on samples heat-treated at 600 °C in N 2 (with selectivities to ethylene higher than 80% at ethane conversions about 65%). The excellent biocompatibility of titanium and its alloys is associated with the properties of their dense TiO2 layer on the surface. The adsorption of proteins of the body fluid to implant surfaces depends on the properties of the surface oxide layer, especially the electronic structure. Therefore, tailoring of the oxide layer is a method for influencing protein adsorption. The influence of composition on band gap and dielectric constant of anodic Al-Ta mixed oxides

Al-Ta mixed oxides were grown by anodizing sputter-deposited Al-Ta alloys of different composition. Photocurrent spectra revealed a band gap, Eg, slightly independent on Ta content and very close to that of anodic Ta2O5 (∼4.3 eV) with the exception of the anodic film on Al-10at% Ta, which resulted to be not photoactive under strong anodic polarization. The photoelectrochemical characterization allowed to estimate also the oxides flat band potential and to get the necessary information to sketch the energetic of the metal/oxide/electrolyte interfaces.
