Selective oxidation of ethane: Developing an orthorhombic phase in Mo–V–X (X=Nb, Sb, Te) mixed oxides

2009

Abstract Mo–V–X (X = Nb, Sb and/or Te) mixed oxides have been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and heat-treated in N2 at 450 °C or 600 °C for 2 h. The calcination temperature and the presence or absence of Nb determines the nature of crystalline phases in the catalyst. Nb-containing catalysts heat-treated at 450 °C are mostly amorphous solids, while Nb-free catalysts heat-treated at 450 °C and samples treated at 600 °C clearly contain crystalline phases. TPR-H2 experiments show higher H2-consumption on catalysts with amorphous phases. Catalytic results in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane indicate that the selective production of the olefin is strongly related to the development of …

Vibrational Circular Dichroism of Thiolate-Protected Au25 Clusters: Accurate Prediction of Spectra and Chirality Transfer within the Mixed Ligand She…

2019

We have prepared Au25(PET)18-2x((R)-FBI-NAS)x(PET = 2-phenylethylthiol, (R)-FBINAS = (R)-5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octafluoro-[1,1'-binaphthalene]-2,2'-dithiol) mixed ligand shell clusters via ligand exchange. Two fractions with different composition of the ligand shell were separated using size-exclusion chromatography and studied by infrared (IR) spectroscopy and vibrational circular dichroism (VCD). Both IR and VCD spectra are dominated by FBINAS vibrations although PET is more abundant on the cluster. Calculated VCD spectra on a model cluster Au25(SH)16(FBINAS)1 depend on the charge state of the cluster, and the anion is in excellent agreement with the experimental spectra of the Au25(PET)18-…

Spontaneous periodic and bursting current oscillations in iron corrosion by dichromate: a useful study for simulating biological systems

1995

Abstract Studies on chemical and electrochemical oscillating systems are very useful in understanding more complex biological systems. Spontaneous periodic and bursting current oscillations were found in iron/dichromate systems coupled with graphite or zinc electrodes. In this paper, we study some phenomenological features of the two systems: their typical oscillation profiles and the influence of external resistance. The results are explained by the Franck-Fitzhugh model using the mixed potential theory.

Effect of Ti(IV) loading on CO oxidation activity of gold on TiO2 doped amorphous silica

2006

Abstract Amorphous SiO 2 , doped with various amount of TiO 2 , was used as support for gold nanoparticles. Gold was deposited through the controlled sol formation technique. The effect of the TiO 2 loading on the structural and surface properties was investigated by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The catalytic behavior was tested in the oxidation of CO. A significant enhancement in the activity was observed for the gold supported on mixed oxide with low TiO 2 loading. On the basis of characterization data, the positive effect is assigned to the electronic modification of the Ti(IV) of the newly formed Ti O Si bonds.

Synthesis and characterisation of a new class of phosphine-phosphonite ferrocenediyl dinuclear rhodium complexes

2004

We previously reported the easy access to mixed ferrocenediyl ligands bearing phosphine and phosphonite moieties. Using this strategy, a new enantiopure phosphine-menthylphosphonite ferrocenediyl has been synthesised. This mixed ligand leads to original unsymmetrical dinuclear rhodium coordination-complexes. One example of this new class of “quasi-close bridging A frame” dinuclear rhodium complexes, fully characterised by multinuclear 1H, 13C, 31P and 103Rh NMR and optical rotation measurements, is presented. Preliminary tests have shown an activity improvement in the hydroformylation of oct-1-ene using the phosphine-menthylphosphonite ferrocenediyl auxiliary compared to known phosphine-pho…

Influence of gel composition in the synthesis of MoVTeNb catalysts over their catalytic performance in partial propane and propylene oxidation

2010

[EN] MoVTeNb mixed oxides catalysts have been prepared by a slurry method with different molar compositions (Mo/Te ratio from 2 to 6 and Nb/(V + Nb) ratio from 0 to 0.7) in the synthesis gel leading to different crystalline phases distribution and catalytic behaviour in the partial oxidation of both propane and propylene to acrylic acid. Chemical analysis indicates that the composition of samples before and after the heat-treatment changes, especially the Te-content, since a significant amount of Te is lost during the heat-treatment step when the amount of oxalate (from niobium oxalate) increases in the synthesis gel. Thus, the nature of the crystalline phases and the catalytic performance …

The Relationship Between Attachment and Psychopathy: A Study with a Sample of Violent Offenders

2014

This study used a mixed quantitative-qualitative methodology to investigate the relationship between attachment and psychopathy. The Psychopathy Checklist- Revised (PCL-R; Hare 2003) was administered to 139 Italian offenders who were convicted of violent crimes (murder, rape, child sexual abuse, armed robbery, assault causing bodily harm). First, we explored whether the two PCL-R items theoretically denoting devaluation of attachment bonds (promiscuous sexual behavior and many marital relationships) were able to predict PCL-R total, factor and facet scores. Subse- quently, we analyzed the transcripts of the 10 participants who obtained the highest PCL-R scores in the sample, assessing their…

How diffusivity, thermocline and incident light intensity modulate the dynamics of Deep Chlorophyll Maximum in Tyrrhenian Sea

2015

During the last few years theoretical works have shed new light and proposed new hypotheses on the mechanisms which regulate the spatio-temporal behaviour of phytoplankton communities in marine pelagic ecosystems. Despite this, relevant physical and biological issues, such as effects of the time- dependent mixing in the upper layer, competition between groups, and dynamics of non-stationary deep chlorophyll maxima, are still open questions. In this work, we analyze the spatio-temporal behaviour of five phytoplankton populations in a real marine ecosystem by using a one-dimensional reaction-diffusion-taxis model. The study is performed, taking into account the seasonal variations of environm…

Comparative study of capillary electroendosmotic chromatography and electrically assisted gradient nano-liquid chromatography for the separation of p…

2000

Capillary electroendoendosmotic chromatography (CEC), being a hybrid of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and capillary electrophoresis, offers considerable changes to enhance column efficiency, speed of analysis and additional selectivity as compared to the parent methods. The analytes are driven by the electroendosmotic flow (EOF) and separated by surface-solute interactions as well as by differences in electromigration. In this paper on the separation of peptides on C18 reversed-phase and mixed-mode (sulphonic acid-n-alkyl) packings in CEC and electrically assisted reversed-phase gradient nano-LC are investigated. It is shown that mixed mode packings generate a higher EOF tha…
