Mixed MHD convection and Tritium transport in fusion-relevant configurations
2005
Mixed MHD flow and Tritium transport were computed for a slender poloidal duct, representative of a DEMO HCLL blanket element. 2-D flow and temperature fields were computed in the duct's cross section under the assumption of parallel, fully developed flow, while Tritium concentration C was found by solving a fully 3-D problem with simplifying assumptions at the duct's ends. The spatial distribution of C depended on the intensity and direction of the forced flow. Significant peak factors were obtained if the net flow rate was so low that re-circulation occurred; C maxima were attained near the walls for upward flow, in the core region for downward flow.
Teacher coping profiles in relation to teacher well-being : a mixed method approach
2021
The aim was to investigate teachers’ coping profiles and their relations to teacher well-being. Questionnaire data was collected from 107 Finnish teachers. Theory-driven content analysis of teachers’ responses revealed three coping categories: problem-focused, emotion-focused and mixed problem- and emotion-focused. Next, teachers were categorized into four coping profiles by using latent profile analysis: Low-coping users (21%), Problem-focused-coping users (15%), High-coping users (12%) and Emotion-focused-coping users (52%). Low-coping-user teachers reported less stress and fewer depressive symptoms and sleep problems compared to Emotion-focused-coping users. Using a compact amount of cop…
CMB spectral distortions in generic two-field models
2017
We investigate the CMB $\mu$ distortion in models where two uncorrelated sources contribute to primordial perturbations. We parameterise each source by an amplitude, tilt, running and running of the running. We perform a detailed analysis of the distribution signal as function of the model parameters, highlighting the differences compared to single-source models. As a specific example, we also investigate the mixed inflaton-curvaton scenario. We find that the $\mu$ distortion could efficiently break degeneracies of curvaton parameters especially when combined with future sensitivity of probing the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$. For example, assuming bounds $\mu < 0.5 \times 10^{-8}$ and $r<0.0…
Shining primordial black holes
2021
We study the well-motivated mixed dark matter (DM) scenario composed of a dominant thermal WIMP, highlighting the case of $SU(2)_L$ triplet fermion "winos", with a small fraction of primordial black holes (PBHs). After the wino kinetic decoupling, the DM particles are captured by PBHs leading to the presence of PBHs with dark minihalos in the Milky Way today. The strongest constraints for the wino DM come from the production of narrow line gamma rays from wino annihilation in the Galactic Center. We analyse in detail the viability of the mixed wino DM scenario, and determine the constraints on the fraction of DM in PBHs assuming a cored halo profile in the Milky Way. We show that already wi…

Influence of the alkaline earth cations on the topology of MII/CuII mixed-metal-organic frameworks (M = Ca, Sr and Ba)
2012
The use of the mononuclear copper(ii) complex, [Cu II(Me 2pma) 2] 2- (Me 2pma = N-2,6-dimethylphenyloxamate), as a bis(bidentate) metalloligand toward solvated alkaline earth metal cations affords a new series of oxamato-bridged heterobimetallic two-dimensional compounds with mixed square-octagonal [Ca II 2Cu II 3] or square [M II 2Cu II 3] (M = Sr and Ba) layered structures of (4·82) and (44·62) net topologies, respectively. © 2012 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
Preparation and Investigation of BaSO4KMnO4 Crystals
1969
BaSO4 crystals containing KMnO4 prepared by precipitation were investigated morphologically, chemically and by X-ray diffraction. The colour of the preparations is homogeneous and stable. The colour intensity and also the amount of dissolved KMnO4 (maximum approx. 30 Mol%) increases with concentration of KMnO4 in the reaction solution to a limiting value dependent on the temperature. The lattice constants or the unit cell volume of the BaSO4–KMnO4 crystals increase with the proportion of KMnO4. The experimental values agree well with the Vegard rule for preparations up to 18 Mol% KMnO4, but with higher proportions significant departures were observed. They may easily be explained by adsorpt…
Multimodal and Agent-Based Human–Computer Interaction in Cultural Heritage Applications: an Overview
2010
One of the most recent and interesting applications of human–computer interaction technologies is the provision of advanced information services within public places, such as cultural heritage sites or schools and university campuses. In such contexts, concurrent technologies used in smart mobile devices can be used to satisfy the mobility need of users allowing them to access relevant resources in a context-dependent manner. Of course, most of the constraints to be taken into account when designing a pervasive information providing system are given by the actual domain where they are deployed.
Scaling Consultative Selling with Virtual Reality: Design and Evaluation of Digitally Enhanced Services
2018
Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality technologies allow creation of powerful customer experiences and illustrative demonstrations especially in use cases that benefit from spatial visualizations. Our study focuses on the natural resource management sector and digitalizing of consultative selling process. More specifically, we look at how to improve customer engagement with the use of virtual reality (VR) and thus digitally scale consultative selling. In this process, a VR application is used to demonstrate various management operations and their economic results. Design research methodology is applied to a pre-development phase and three application development iterations between 2016 and …
