Modelling mode choice for freight transport using advanced choice experiments
2015
Abstract In this paper we use advanced choice modelling techniques to analyse demand for freight transport in a context of modal choice. To this end, a stated preference (SP) survey was conducted in order to estimate freight shipper preferences for the main attributes that define the service offered by the different transport modes. From a methodological point of view, we focus on two critical issues in the construction of efficient choice experiments. Firstly, in obtaining good quality prior information about the parameters; and secondly, in the improved quality of the experimental data by tailoring a specific efficient design for every respondent in the sample. With these data, different …
On certain extension theorems in the mixed Borel setting
2004
Abstract Given two sequences M 1 and M 2 of positive numbers, we give necessary and sufficient conditions under which the inclusions Λ { M 1 } ⊂ f (j) (0) j∈ N 0 : f∈ D { M 2 } [−1,1] , Λ ( M 1 ) ⊂ f (j) (0) j∈ N 0 : f∈ D ( M 2 ) [−1,1] hold, by means of explicit constructions. This answers a question raised by Chaumat and Chollet (Math. Ann. 298 (1994) 7–40). We also consider the case when [−1,1] is replaced by [−1,1]m as well as the possibility to get ultraholomorphic extensions.
A Potential Field Function for Overlapping Point Set and Graph Cluster Visualization
2015
In this paper we address the problem of visualizing overlapping sets of points with a fixed positioning in a comprehensible way. A standard visualization technique is to enclose the point sets in isocontours generated by bounding a potential field function. The most commonly used functions are various approximations of the Gaussian distribution. Such an approach produces smooth and appealing shapes, however it may produce an incorrect point nesting in generated regions, e.g. some point is contained inside a foreign set region. We introduce a different potential field function that keeps the desired properties of Gaussian distribution, and in addition guarantees that every point belongs to a…
The mixed general routing polyhedron
2003
[EN] In Arc Routing Problems, ARPs, the aim is to find on a graph a minimum cost traversal satisfying some conditions related to the links of the graph. Due to restrictions to traverse some streets in a specified way, most applications of ARPs must be modeled with a mixed graph. Although several exact algorithms have been proposed, no polyhedral investigations have been done for ARPs on a mixed graph. In this paper we deal with the Mixed General Routing Problem which consists of finding a minimum cost traversal of a given link subset and a given vertex subset of a mixed graph. A formulation is given that uses only one variable for each link (edge or arc) of the graph. Some properties of the…
A regular variational boundary model for free vibrations of magneto-electro-elastic structures
2011
In this paper a regular variational boundary element formulation for dynamic analysis of two-dimensional magneto-electro-elastic domains is presented. The method is based on a hybrid variational principle expressed in terms of generalized magneto-electro-elastic variables. The domain variables are approximated by using a superposition of weighted regular fundamental solutions of the static magneto-electro-elastic problem, whereas the boundary variables are expressed in terms of nodal values. The variational principle coupled with the proposed discretization scheme leads to the calculation of frequency-independent and symmetric generalized stiffness and mass matrices. The generalized stiffne…
A new solver for incompressible non-isothermal flows in natural and mixed convection over unstructured grids
2022
Abstract In the present paper we propose a new numerical methodology for the solution of 2D non-isothermal incompressible flows for natural and mixed convection in irregular geometries. The governing equations are the Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations and the Energy Conservation Equation. Fluid velocity and temperature are coupled in the buoyancy term of the momentum equations according to the Oberbeck–Boussinesq approximation. The governing equations are discretized over unstructured triangular meshes satisfying the Delaunay property. Thanks to the Oberbeck–Boussinesq hypothesis, the flow and energy problems are solved in an uncoupled way, and two fractional time step procedures are s…

Virtual Reality in Marketing: A Framework, Review, and Research Agenda
2019
[EN] Marketing scholars and practitioners are showing increasing interest in Extended Reality (XR) technologies (XRs), such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR), as very promising technological tools for producing satisfactory consumer experiences that mirror those experienced in physical stores. However, most of the studies published to date lack a certain measure of methodological rigor in their characterization of XR technologies and in the assessment techniques used to characterize the consumer experience, which limits the generalization of the results. We argue that it is necessary to define a rigorous methodological framework for the use of XRs in ma…
