On the Prandtl Boundary Layer Equations in Presence of Corner Singularities
2014
In this paper we prove the well-posedness of the Prandtl boundary layer equations on a periodic strip when the initial and the boundary data are not assigned to be compatible.
Multiplicity results for Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems
2009
Multiplicity results for Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems are obtained. Proofs are based on variational methods.
Purification of Lindblad dynamics, geometry of mixed states and geometric phases
2015
We propose a nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation in a Hilbert space enlarged with an ancilla such that the partial trace of its solution obeys to the Lindblad equation of an open quantum system. The dynamics involved by this nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation constitutes then a purification of the Lindbladian dynamics. This nonlinear equation is compared with other Schr\"odinger like equations appearing in the theory of open systems. We study the (non adiabatic) geometric phases involved by this purification and show that our theory unifies several definitions of geometric phases for open systems which have been previously proposed. We study the geometry involved by this purification and show th…
Interstitielle Nephritis bei atypischer Manifestation eines Sjgren's Syndrom
1980
A patient was observed with interstitial nephritis which resulted in renal tubular acidosis (distal type), tubular proteinuria and defective urinary concentrating ability in the absence of edema, elevated arterial blood pressure, glomerular proteinuria or abnormal urinary sediment. The presence of interstitial nephritis was established by renal biopsy which showed dense infiltrates in the interstitium, interstitial fibrosis and thickening and splitting of the pericapillary basal membranes. Immunofluorescence was non contributory. Extrarenal symptoms were discrete (arthralgia of both hands, Raynaud's syndrome upon cold exposure). Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) was suspected because o…
In vitro analysis of the phenotypical and functional properties of the 4F7+ cutaneous accessory dendritic cell
1995
The monoclonal antibody 4F7 detects a molecule on dermal and epidermal Ia+ dendritic cells (DCs), and some of these cells are Birbeck granule-containing cells. Here we report on the phenotypical and functional characteristics of these cells which were highly enriched by 4F7-labelled immunomagnetic beads. The ultrastructural, immunocytochemical and cytochemical analyses of these preparations showed cells with the typical characteristics of DCs. The cells were found to express the DC marker NLDC145, but not 33D1. The C3bi receptor and marker F4/80 were only expressed by epidermal 4F7+ cells. The capacity of freshly isolated 4F7+ epidermal and dermal DCs to activate allogeneic T cells in a mix…
Pathobiology of Hodgkin Lymphoma
2010
Despite its well-known histological and clinical features, Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) has recently been the object of intense research activity, leading to a better understanding of its phenotype, molecular characteristics, histogenesis, and possible mechanisms of lymphomagenesis. There is complete consensus on the B-cell derivation of the tumor in most cases, and on the relevance of Epstein-Barr virus infection and defective cytokinesis in at least a proportion of patients. The REAL/WHO classification recognizes a basic distinction between lymphocyte predominance HL (LP-HL) and classic HL (cHL), reflecting the differences in clinical presentation and behavior, morphology, phenotype, and molec…
Apport des réalités virtuelles et augmentées dans la planification et le suivi in situ de travaux de rénovation.
2013
This dissertation presents the evaluation of an onsite augmented reality tool and its relevance for helping construction agents to prepare and monitor the progress of a building's construction or renovation through a mobile device. The case study focuses on virtual renovation works regarding an ancient window –dated eighteenth century- in a room of the Cluny (Saone et Loire, France) abbey buildings. The study aims at comparing the efficiency and the precision of users' behavior in four situations while performing identical sets of tasks. Three methods related to the ICT uses of onsite AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) guided the experiment: the first method focuses on paper-b…
Association between malocclusion and orofacial myofunctional disorders of pre‐school children in Latvia
2019
Objects Abnormal use of muscles of tongue and lips is called orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD). In this study, we aimed to investigate the interrelation between occlusal findings and OMD in primary and mixed dentition and to find out the reasons for malocclusions, and the effect modification of these associations by the number of sources that parents used to receive the information on child oral health issues (NSI). Setting and sample population Cross-sectional study was performed in one kindergarten in Latvia (cluster sampling). The study sample comprised 141 children-mothers' pairs of pre-school children aged 4-7 years. Materials and methods Children' myofunctional situation, occlus…
Photo-electrochemical and impedance investigation of passive layers grown anodically on titanium alloys
2004
Abstract The anodic behaviour of two titanium cast alloys, obtained by fusion in a voltaic arc under argon atmosphere, was analyzed in aerated aqueous solutions having different pH values. In all solutions the alloys, having nominal compositions Ti–50Zr at.% and Ti–13Zr–13Nb wt.%, displayed a valve-metal behaviour, owing to the formation of barrier-type oxide films. Passive films, grown potentiodynamically up to about 9 V, were investigated by photocurrent spectroscopy (PCS) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). These passive layers show photoactivity under anodic polarizations, with optical gaps close to 3.55 and 3.25 eV for the binary and the ternary alloy, respectively, indep…
Influences of Structure and Composition on the Photoelectrochemical Behaviour of Anodic Films on Zr and Zr-20at.%Ti
2008
Abstract A photoelectrochemical investigation on anodic films of different thickness grown on sputter-deposited Zr and Zr–20 at.%Ti was carried out. The estimated optical band gap and flat band potential of thick ( U F ≥ 50 V) anodic films were related to their crystalline structure and compared with those obtained for thinner ( U F ≤ 8 V/SCE) anodic oxides having undetermined crystalline structure. The E g values obtained by photocurrent spectroscopy were also compared with the experimental band gap estimated by other optical ex situ techniques and with the available theoretical estimates of the zirconia electronic structures in an attempt to reconcile the wide range of band gap data rep…
