Flavor changing neutral currents in the dualized standard model
1998
The Dualized Standard Model which gives explanations for both fermion generations and Higgs fields has already been used to calculate fermion mass and mixing parameters with success. In this paper, we extend its application to low energy FCNC effects deriving bounds for various processes in terms of one single mass scale. Using then experimental information from K_L - K_S mass difference and air showers beyond the GZK cut-off, these bounds are converted into rough, order-of-magnitude predictions. In particular, the estimates for the decay K_L \to e^\pm \mu^\mp and for the mass difference between the neutral D-mesons seem accessible to experiment in the near future.
Double beta decay in left-right symmetric models
1996
Left-right symmetric models provide a natural framework for neutrinoless double beta ($\znbb$) decay. In the analysis of $\znbb$ decay in left-right symmetric models, however, it is usually assumed that all neutrinos are light. On the other hand, heavy {\it right-handed} neutrinos appear quite naturally in left-right symmetric models and should therefore not be neglected. Assuming the existence of at least one right-handed heavy neutrino, absence of $\znbb$ decay of $^{76}$Ge currently provides the following limits on the mass and mixing angle of right-handed W-bosons: $m_{W_R}\ge 1.1 $ TeV and $\tan(\zeta) \le 4.7 \times 10^{-3}$ for a particular value of the effective right-handed neutrin…
Fermion masses, leptogenesis, and supersymmetric SO(10) unification
2007
Current neutrino oscillation data indicate the existence of two large lepton mixing angles, while Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements are all small. Here we show how supersymmetric SO(10) with extra chiral singlets can easily reconcile large lepton mixing angles with small quark mixing angles within the framework of the successful Fritzsch ansatz. Moreover we show how this is fully consistent with the thermal leptogenesis scenario, avoiding the so-called gravitino problem. A sizeable asymmetry can be generated at relatively low scales. We present our results in terms of the leptonic CP violation parameter that characterizes neutrino oscillations.
The solar LMA neutrino oscillation solution in the Zee model
2001
We examine the neutrino mass matrix in the version of Zee model where both Higgs doublets couple to the leptons. We show that in this case one can accommodate the large mixing angle (LMA) MSW solution of the solar neutrino problem, while avoiding maximal solar mixing and conflicts with constraints on lepton family number-violating interactions. In the simplified scenario we consider, we have the neutrino mass spectrum characterized by $m_1 \simeq m_2 \simeq \sqrt{\Delta m^2_\mathrm{atm}}/\sin 2\theta$ and $m_3/m_1 \simeq \cos 2\theta$, where $\theta$ is the solar mixing angle.
On the SUSY Accompanied Neutrino Exchange Mechanism of Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay
1995
The neutrinoless double beta decay ($\znbb$) induced by light Majorana neutrino exchange between decaying nucleons, accompanied by the squark exchange inside one nucleon, recently discussed by Babu and Mohapatra, is carefully analyzed both from the particle and nuclear physics sides. New nuclear matrix elements relevant to this mechanism are calculated. We extend the analysis to include mixing of light neutrinos with heavy and "sterile" neutrinos. It introduces another supersymmetric (SUSY) contribution to $\znbb$. We discuss constraints on the \rp MSSM parameters imposed by the current experimental limit on $\znbb$ decay half-life of $^{76}$Ge.
Tau lepton mixing with charginos and its effects on chargino searches at e+e− colliders
1998
In bilinear R-Parity violating models where a term \epsilon_3L_3H_2 is introduced in the superpotential, the tau lepton can mix with charginos. We show that this mixing is fully compatible with LEP1 precision measurements of the Z\tau\tau and W\tau\nu_\tau couplings even for large values of \epsilon_3 and of the induced vacuum expectation value v_3 of the tau-sneutrino. The single production of charginos at e+e- colliders is possible in this case and we present numerical values of the cross-section at LEP1, LEP2 and an NLC. We find maximum values of 10 pb at LEP1 and 1 fb at NLC, while the corresponding values at LEP2 are too small to observe.
Discriminating Neutrino See-Saw Models
2001
We consider how well current theories can predict neutrino mass and mixing parameters, and construct a statistical discriminator which allows us to compare different models to each other. As an example we consider see-saw models based on family symmetry, and single right-handed neutrino dominance, and compare them to each other and to the case of neutrino anarchy with random entries in the neutrino Yukawa and Majorana mass matrices. The predictions depend crucially on the range of the undetermined coefficients over which we scan, and we speculate on how future theories might lead to more precise predictions for the coefficients and hence for neutrino observables. Our results indicate how ac…
Measurement of resonant andCPcomponents inB¯s0→J/ψπ+π−decays
2014
Structure of the decay Bs0→J/ψπ+π- is studied using data corresponding to 3fb-1 of integrated luminosity from pp collisions produced by the LHC and collected by the LHCb detector. Five interfering π+π- states are required to describe the decay: f0(980),f0(1500),f0(1790),f2(1270), and f2′(1525). An alternative model including these states and a nonresonant J/ψπ+π- component also provides a good description of the data. Based on the different transversity components measured for the spin-2 intermediate states, the final state is found to be compatible with being entirely CP odd. The CP-even part is found to be <2.3% at a 95% confidence level. The f0(500) state is not observed, allowing a limi…
Supersymmetry and CP Violating Asymmetries in $B_{d,s}$ Decays
1999
We study possible effects of supersymmetry (SUSY) in CP asymmetries in non-leptonic $B_{d,s}$ decays in a variety of SUSY flavour models considered in literature. We use both mass insertion and vertex mixing methods to calculate squark-gluino box diagrams contribution to $B_{d,s} - \bar{B}_{d,s}$ mixings. With the squark mixing parameter $\eta=0.22$, and with large new CP phases, it turns out that the CP asymmetries to be measured in upcoming B-factories, HERA-B and LHC-B, can be completely dominated by the SUSY contribution in almost every considered model. Discrimination between the different models can be done by comparing experimental results in different decay modes. In some models squ…
Combining LSND and Atmospheric Anomalies in a Three-Neutrino Picture
2001
We investigate the three-neutrino mixing scheme for solving the atmospheric and LSND anomalies. We find the region in the parameter space that provides a good fit to the LSND and the SK atmospheric data, taking into account the CHOOZ constraint. We demonstrate that the goodness of this fit is comparable to that of the conventional fit to the solar and atmospheric data. Large values of the LSND angle are favoured and $\sin^2(2\theta_{\rm LSND})$ can be as high as 0.1. This can have important effects on the atmospheric electron neutrino ratios as well as on down-going multi-GeV muon neutrino ratios. We examine the possibility of distinguishing this scheme from the conventional one at the long…
