Mobile banking services adoption in Pakistan: are there gender differences?
2017
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive insight into the deciding factors affecting an individual’s intention to adopt mobile banking (m-banking) services in Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach A survey approach was used with a sample of 189 responses from across Pakistan. Multi-group analysis was performed in order to detect gender differences among men and women in the process of adopting m-banking. Findings The paper found support for the positive effect of perceived behavioral control (PBC) and attitudes (ATT) toward m-banking adoption intentions. Significant differences between men and women were found to affect subjective norms (SN) on adoption intention, ev…
Antecedents to permission based mobile marketing: an initial examination
2009
PurposeThis paper's aim is to develop a conceptual model to examine the influence of four antecedent factors (personal trust, institutional trust, perceived control and experience) on consumers' willingness to participate in permission‐based mobile marketing. The model is to be tested empirically across three European countries and gender.Design/methodology/approachData are collected from surveys of consumers in Finland, Germany and the UK. The partial least squares (PLS) approach is utilised to test the model fit.FindingsThe main factor affecting the consumers' decision to participate in mobile marketing is institutional trust, which is a significant factor in all three countries and acros…
Mechanisms of Smartphone Apps for Cigarette Smoking Cessation: Results of a Serial Mediation Model From the iCanQuit Randomized Trial
2021
Background Engagement with digital interventions is a well-known predictor of treatment outcomes, but this knowledge has had limited actionable value. Instead, learning why engagement with digital interventions impact treatment outcomes can lead to targeted improvements in their efficacy. Objective This study aimed to test a serial mediation model of an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) smartphone intervention for smoking cessation. Methods In this randomized controlled trial, participants (N=2415) from 50 US states were assigned to the ACT-based smartphone intervention (iCanQuit) or comparison smartphone intervention (QuitGuide). Their engagement with the apps (primary measure: numb…
Teknologian rooli meditaatioharjoittelussa
2016
Informaatioteknologian kehitys on mahdollistanut meditaatioharjoitteiden tehokkaan leviämisen länsimaisten kulttuurien ulottuville. Digitaalisissa ympäristöissä informaatio leviää erittäin tehokkaasti ja meditaatioharjoitteisiin liittyvään informaatioon törmääminen onkin todennäköisempää kuin koskaan aikaisemmin. Meditoinnin ollaan havaittu edistävän hyvinvointia useilla elämän osa-alueilla ja tuloksien käytännönläheinen soveltaminen edistyy jatkuvasti. Vuosien saatossa informaatioteknologiaa on kehitetty lukuisiin asiayhteyksiin, eikä meditaatioharjoittelu ole jäänyt teknologisen kehityskulun ulkopuolelle. Markkinoilla liikkuu lukuisia erilaisia meditaatioharjoittelua tukevia sovelluksia, …
Mobiilipelien virtuaalihyödykkeiden ostoon johtavat tekijät
2015
Modelling Mobile Encounter Networks
2006
This article presents mobile encounter networks, which emerge when mobile devices come across each other and form a temporary connection between them using a common short-range radio technology. Local information exchanges between mobile devices results in a broadcast diffusion of information to other users of the network with a delay. In addition to presenting the concept of mobile encounter networks, we also provide an abstract method for describing the information diffusion process inside them. peerReviewed
Investigating switching intention of e-commerce live streaming users.
2022
As a new way of shopping, e-commerce live streaming (ELS) has gained unprecedented growth and popularity in the past years, especially in China. Because of the considerable rivalry in the ELS market, users frequently switch between ELS platforms. However, the switching intention of ELS users is yet to be explored for gaining new knowledge and practical insights. This study aims to improve the understanding of ELS users' switching intentions by developing an extended Push-Pull-Mooring (PPM) model. Using structural equation modeling, the study model was examined based on 443 valid responses from an online survey questionnaire. SmartPLS 3.3.2 was used to validate the causal model, and most of …
Sources of Dissatisfaction: Mobile Interaction with the Real World and Other Mobile Internet Applications
2013
Current consumer-level mobile Internet applications involve many potential sources of dissatisfaction. Studying these sources is necessary, especially for newer application areas such as mobile interaction with the real world. This study combined previous studies to form a categorization framework of dissatisfaction sources and gathered qualitative data using critical incident technique and overall evaluation questionnaire to describe the sources in detail. This article proposes insights into characteristics, temporality, and combinations of sources. peerReviewed
3D-grafiikan optimointi mobiilialustalle Unity-ympäristössä
2016
Mobiilimarkkinoilta löytyy hyvin laaja kirjo erilaisia mobiilipelejä. Mobiililaitteet ovat laajimmalle levinnyt tietokonemuoto. Viimevuosina mobiililaitteiden graafiset ominaisuudet ovat nousseet sellaiselle tasolle, että niillä voidaan renderöidä upeita 3Dympäristöjä reaaliajassa. Silti mobiililaitteet vaativat optimointia sulavaan peligrafiikan laskemiseen. Tämä pro gradu tutkielma paneutuu 3D-mobiiligrafiikan optimointiin keskittyen Unity-pelimoottoriin. Teoriaosuudessa käydään läpi 3D-grafiikan luomisen peruskäytänteitä siirtyen Unityn käyttämään OpenGL ES liukuhihnaan ja sen optimointimahdollisuuksiin. Käytännön osuudessa testataan kolmioiden, valaistuksen, sekä varjostimien vaikutusta…
Magis – A magical adventure: Using a mobile game to deliver an ACT intervention for elementary schoolchildren in classroom settings
2022
Studies of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have shown that this health emergency has affected especially young people. Supporting the well-being of children is thus particularly urgent. However, the high prevalence of ill-being among children requires novel approaches to providing help. Health care resources are limited, and many children did not receive support even before the pandemic. The current study presents a novel approach to delivering brief interventions for school-aged children. A mobile game based on acceptance and commitment therapy was used to increase psychological flexibility and well-being among 10 to 12-year-old schoolchildren. A sample of 106 students played the game…
