Inferring phytoplankton community composition with a fatty acid mixing model

Abstract. The taxon specificity of fatty acid composition in algal classes suggests that fatty acids could be used as chemotaxonomic markers for phytoplankton composition. The applicability of phospholipid-derived fatty acids as chemotaxonomic markers for phytoplankton composition was evaluated by using a Bayesian fatty acid-based mixing model. Artykuł zawiera opis metodologii i ilustracje metod oceny stanów zrównoważoności i identyfikacji zjawisk oraz okresów anomalnej dynamiki kryzysowej na podstawie historyczno-systemologicznej (HS-) analizy normalizowanych wskaźników rozwoju wszystkich mod (rodzajów) transportu w wielkich społeczno-terytorialnych systemach (STS),na przykładach sektorów transportu USA, Unii Europejskiej (UE-28) i Federacji Rosyjskiej. Analiza jest prowadzona w kontekstach strukturalnym i funkcjonalnym z kompleksową oceną zbieżności i jest oparta na semantycznym modelowaniu.

Bezrecepšu pretsāpju medikamentu lietošana sāpju kontrolei

Bakalaura darbs „Bezrecepšu pretsāpju medikamentu lietošana sāpju kontrolei” ir pētījums par to, kā jaunieši (vecumā 20-30 gadi) veido izpratni par sāpēm, pretsāpju līdzekļiem un to lietošanu. Izmantojot Artura Kleinmana slimību skaidrošanas modeļus, caur jauniešu sāpju pieredzes stāstiem tiek skatīti sāpju izcelsmes skaidrojumi un sāpju nozīmīgums, kā arī bezrecepšu pretsāpju medikamentu efekta veidošanās un priekšstati par zāļu īpašībām. Pētījuma rezultāti norāda, ka bezrecepšu pretsāpju medikamenti tiek normalizēti un integrēti sāpju epizodes kontrolē caur sāpju nozīmes mazināšanu un medikamenta efektu un īpašību konstruēšanu. Bakalaura darbs „Latvijas apģērbu modes zīmolu komunikācija sociālajos tīklos” ir izstrādāts ar mērķi, lai noskaidrot kā Latvijas apģērbu modes zīmoli komunicē ar saviem patērētājiem sociālajos tīklos, cik šiem zīmoliem šī komunikācija ir svarīga un kā šo komunikāciju vērtē modes zīmolu sekotāji. Darbā veikta teorētisko nostādņu apkopošana, bet darba metodoloģijā apskatītas izmantotās pētniecības metodes. Empīriskajā daļā tiek aprakstīti pētījuma rezultāti, bet darba beigās tiek veikti secinājumi. Abstract Interactions between reaction–diffusion systems and restricted host environments are a subject of widespread interest. In this work the behaviour of the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction was investigated in lamellar phases formed by phospholipid bilayers with relevance for biological systems. The influence of the reactive medium on the structure of the lipid matrix and, in turn, the influence of the matrix on the dynamical evolution of chemical patterns, were studied by small angle scattering.

Modeling multipartite virus evolution: the genome formula facilitates rapid adaptation to heterogeneous environments

Multipartite viruses have two or more genome segments, and package different segments into different particle types. Although multipartition is thought to have a cost for virus transmission, its benefits are not clear. Recent experimental work has shown that the equilibrium frequency of viral genome segments, the setpoint genome formula (SGF), can be unbalanced and host-species dependent. These observations have reinvigorated the hypothesis that changes in genome-segment frequencies can lead to changes in virus-gene expression that might be adaptive.
