Modalitāte ir gramatiskās kategorija, kas atspoguļo izteikuma nozīmību, mērķi un attieksmi pret īstenību. Ar modalitās palīdzību tiek izpaustas tādas funkcijas kā spējas, iespējas, nepieciešamība un pienākums. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot modalitātes veidus un to funkcionalitāti kas izmantota spēļu instrukcijās. Lai sasniegtu šo mērķi, tika aplūkota teorētiskā literatūra par modalitāti, veikta korpusa analīze un diskursa analīzi. Pētījuma rezultātā tika noskaidrots, ka spēļu instrukciju tekstos tiek izmantota gan deontiskā, gan epistēmiskā modalitāte, kā arī imperatīvā un indikatīvā izteiksme. Modal analysis for random response of MDOF systems

The usefulness of the mode-superposition method of multidegrees of freedom systems excited by stochastic vector processes is here presented. The differential equations of moments of every order are written in compact form by means of the Kronecker algebra; then the method for integration of these equations is presented for both classically and non-classically damped systems, showing that the fundamental operator available for evaluating the response in the deterministic analysis is also useful for evaluating the response in the stochastic analysis.

Julkishallinnon organisaatioiden käyttämä virkakieli on tärkeä yhteiskunnallisen viestinnän ja hallinnon asiakassuhteiden ylläpidon väline. Virkakieltä on huollettu Suomessa jo pitkään, mutta silti kielenhuoltajat tunnistavat siinä edelleen huomattavia ongelmia, jotka haittaavat hallinnon ja sen asiakkaiden välistä viestintää. Hallinnon tehtävänä on palvella yhteiskuntaa ja asiakkaitaan, joten sen kielenkäytöllä on merkitystä. Hallinnon kielenkäyttöä ohjeistetaan muun muassa lainsäädännöllä. Posteri Suomen soveltavan kielitieteen yhdistyksen (AFinLA) syyssymposiumissa, Turku, 10.–11.11.2017. Muutokset yhteiskunnassa ja opetussuunnitelmissa sekä ylioppilastutkinnon sähköistyminen ravistelevat kielitaidon arviointiin liittyviä käsityksiä ja käytäntöjä. Lukion opetussuunnitelman perusteissa ei enää nähdä kuullun ymmärtämistä erillisenä taitona, vaan ”taito tulkita tekstejä” sisältää kaikenlaisen syötteen tulkinnan. Yksi luonnollisin lähtökohta kielikokeiden uudistamiselle on audiovisuaalisen aineiston sisällyttäminen kuullunymmärtämiskokeeseen. The neglect of other sensory modalities is gradually being addressed by scholars and designers, who investigate user experience based on touch, smell, taste, sound and even expressive bodily interactions.
