Melanin has a high binding affinity for a wide range of drugs. The determination of the melanin binding capacity and its binding affinity are important, e.g., in the determination of the ocular drug distribution, the prediction of drug effects in the eye, and the trans-scleral drug delivery. The binding parameters estimated from a given data set vary significantly when using different isotherms or different nonlinear fitting methods. Firstly, sufficient conditions which can guarantee thel1-gain finite-time boundedness of the underlying system are given by using the average dwell time approach and constructing an appropriate copositive type Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional in delta domain. An Augmented Static Olley-Pakes Productivity Decomposition with Entry and Exit Measurement and Interpretation

We develop an augmented Olley–Pakes (OP) decomposition that allows us to examine how entering and exiting firms contribute to the popular OP covariance measure of allocative efficiency. Applying the decomposition to a comprehensive micro-level data, we find that a large part of the OP covariance component can be attributed to entrants and exiting firms. We also build a model of firm dynamics that is consistent with our main empirical results. In the model economy, the standard OP covariance component tends to increase with certain type of distortions because of endogenous changes in firm entry and exit.
Noise-induced transitions in a stochastic Goodwin-type business cycle model

Abstract We motivate and specify a stochastic Goodwin-type business cycle model. Our analysis focusses on a subset of the parameter space where several attractors coexist. Applying a semi-numerical approach based on the stochastic sensitivity function and confidence domains due to Milstein and Ryashko (1995) , we study random transitions between stable attractors in the context of the Goodwin-type economy embedded in an uncertain environment. Relying on a mix of analytical considerations and simulations we demonstrate that under weak noise levels regime switching is a prominent feature in the presence of low saving rates. Multicenter solutions in Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld gravity

We find multicenter (Majumdar-Papapetrou type) solutions of Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld gravity coupled to electromagnetic fields governed by a Born-Infeld-like Lagrangian. We construct the general solution for an arbitrary number of centers in equilibrium and then discuss the properties of their one-particle configurations, including the existence of bounces and the regularity (geodesic completeness) of these spacetimes. Our method can be used to construct multicenter solutions in other theories of gravity.

Abstract The aim of the paper is to present the application of type-2 fuzzy logic controllers (T2FLCs) to the control of a fed-batch fermentation reactor in which the penicillin production is carried out. The performance of the control system using T2FLCs is compared by simulation with that of a control system using type-1 fuzzy logic controllers (T1FLCs). The non linear model used for the simulation study is an unstructured model characterized by the presence of non linearities, parameter uncertainty and measurement noise. Algorithmic method of design and analysis of fractional-slot windings of AC machines

The paper presents a new algorithmic method of designing fractional-slot windings for AC machines of the double and single layer type. The method allows to design windings with a small number of slots per pole and phase, and then to analyse their MMF harmonic spectra in a simple systematic way and to optimise the construction. The presented method comprises not only 3-phase, but alsom-phase windings, which in the case of compact converter-motor units are quite applicable.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to make a comparative study of the static behaviour of the eccentric presses, using the finite elements method, on the rigid structure and on the flexible structure, respectively. The finite elements modelling of the component elements of the presses are done in two ways: node by node link type (rigid structure) or using a linking element spring damper type (flexible structure). On these two structures there is successively applied a number of static analyses, in order to determine the strain of working area and the design of the stiffness graph.

An easy-to-use capillary cylinder model of O2 supply to muscle is presented that considers all those factors that are known to be most important for realistic results: (1) red blood cell (RBC) O2 unloading along the capillary, (2) effects of the particulate nature of blood, (3) free and hemoglobin-facilitated O2 diffusion and reaction kinetics inside RBCs, (4) free and myoglobin-facilitated O2 diffusion inside the muscle cell, and (5) carrier-free region separating RBC and tissue.
