Superstable cycles for antiferromagnetic Q-state Potts and three-site interaction Ising models on recursive lattices

We consider the superstable cycles of the Q-state Potts (QSP) and the three-site interaction antiferromagnetic Ising (TSAI) models on recursive lattices. The rational mappings describing the models' statistical properties are obtained via the recurrence relation technique. We provide analytical solutions for the superstable cycles of the second order for both models. A particular attention is devoted to the period three window. Here we present an exact result for the third order superstable orbit for the QSP and a numerical solution for the TSAI model. Abstract Exponential polynomials are essential in subdivision for the reconstruction of specific families of curves and surfaces, such as conic sections and quadric surfaces. It is well known that if a linear subdivision scheme is able to reproduce a certain space of exponential polynomials, then it must be level-dependent, with rules depending on the frequencies (and eventual multiplicities) defining the considered space. Green’s function and existence of solutions for a third-order three-point boundary value problem

The solutions of third-order three-point boundary value problem x‘‘‘ + f(t, x) = 0, t ∈ [a, b], x(a) = x‘(a) = 0, x(b) = kx(η), where η ∈ (a, b), k ∈ R, f ∈ C([a, b] × R, R) and f(t, 0) ≠ 0, are the subject of this investigation. In order to establish existence and uniqueness results for the solutions, attention is focused on applications of the corresponding Green’s function. As an application, also one example is given to illustrate the result. On the construction, comparison, and exchangeability of tuning systems

The aim of this article is to describe mathematically different tuning systems, to study their mathematical properties, and to propose a construction allowing their comparison. In order to reach these goals, we introduce a concept of similarity between tuning systems and then we provide two sufficient conditions for the particular case in which a tuning system generated by an interval and a circulating temperament are compared. Finally, we show by means of an example that, for two tuning systems to be exchangeable, some well-known results determining the suitable number of notes per octave are not enough.

Existence results for $L^1$ data of some quasi-linear parabolic problems with a quadratic gradient term and source

In this paper we deal with a Cauchy–Dirichlet quasilinear parabolic problem containing a gradient lower order term; namely, ut - Δu + |u|2 γ-2u |∇u|2 = |u|p-2u. We prove that if p ≥ 1, γ ≥ ½ and p < 2 γ + 2, then there exists a global weak solution for all initial data in L1 (Ω). We also see that there exists a non-negative solution if the initial datum is non-negative.
Quantum walk on the line through potential barriers

Quantum walks are well-known for their ballistic dispersion, traveling $\Theta(t)$ away in $t$ steps, which is quadratically faster than a classical random walk's diffusive spreading. In physical implementations of the walk, however, the particle may need to tunnel through a potential barrier to hop, and a naive calculation suggests this could eliminate the ballistic transport. We show by explicit calculation, however, that such a loss does not occur. Rather, the $\Theta(t)$ dispersion is retained, with only the coefficient changing, which additionally gives a way to detect and quantify the hopping errors in experiments.

A new bending under tension test is presented in this paper. This method tries to evaluate bending forces in sheet under successive multiaxial stress condition. This test is carried out in only one step with a pinned cylinder over a material that has been previously deformed to pure shear condition. Due to that, the bending process is made under higher back tension forces than the ones involved in the common methods previously studied in the literature. In this paper we consider a discrete dynamical system x n+1=βx n – g(x n ), n=0,1,..., arising as a discrete-time network of a single neuron, where 0 < β ≤ 1 is an internal decay rate, g is a signal function. A great deal of work has been done when the signal function is a sigmoid function. However, a signal function of McCulloch-Pitts nonlinearity described with a piecewise constant function is also useful in the modelling of neural networks.
