Forward Kinematic Modelling with Radial Basis Function Neural Network Tuned with a Novel Meta-Heuristic Algorithm for Robotic Manipulators
2022
The complexity of forward kinematic modelling increases with the increase in the degrees of freedom for a manipulator. To reduce the computational weight and time lag for desired output transformation, this paper proposes a forward kinematic model mapped with the help of the Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFNN) architecture tuned by a novel meta-heuristic algorithm, namely, the Cooperative Search Optimisation Algorithm (CSOA). The architecture presented is able to automatically learn the kinematic properties of the manipulator. Learning is accomplished iteratively based only on the observation of the input–output relationship. Related simulations are carried out on a 3-Degrees…
Digital Twin of HVAC system (HVACDT) for multiobjective optimization of energy consumption and thermal comfort based on BIM framework with ANN-MOGA
2022
This study proposes a novel Digital Twin framework of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVACDT) system to reduce energy consumption while increasing thermal comfort. The framework is developed to help the facility managers better understand the building operation to enhance the HVAC system function. The Digital Twin framework is based on Building Information Modelling (BIM) combined with a newly created plug-in to receive real-time sensor data as well as thermal comfort and optimization process through Matlab programming. In order to determine if the suggested framework is practical, data were collected from a Norwegian office building between August 2019 and October 2021 and used…
Digital Twin framework for automated fault source detection and prediction for comfort performance evaluation of existing non-residential Norwegian b…
2023
Numerous buildings fall short of expectations regarding occupant satisfaction, sustainability, or energy efficiency. In this paper, the performance of buildings in terms of occupant comfort is evaluated using a probabilistic model based on Bayesian networks (BNs). The BN model is founded on an in-depth anal- ysis of satisfaction survey responses and a thorough study of building performance parameters. This study also presents a user-friendly visualization compatible with BIM to simplify data collecting in two case studies from Norway with data from 2019 to 2022. This paper proposes a novel Digital Twin approach for incorporating building information modeling (BIM) with real-time sensor data…
TOWARD ENRICHED VHTS FOR CDK2 INHIBITORS: MOLECULAR DYNAMICS, PHARMACOPHORE MODELLING, AND DOCKING
2019
Cyclin-Dependent Kinases-2 (CDK2) are members of the serine/threonine protein kinases family. They play an important role in the regulation events of the eukaryotic cell division cycle, especially during the G1 to S phase transition. Experimental evidence indicates that excessive expression of CDK2s should cause abnormal cell cycle regulation. Therefore, since a long time, CDK2s have been considered potential therapeutic targets for cancer therapy. In this work, we collected one-hundred and forty-nine complexes of inhibitors bound in the CDK2-ATP pocket submitting to short MD simulations (10ns) and free energy calculation by means of MM-GBSA. The calculate ∆G values have been compared with …
A Cost-Effective 3D Acquisition and Visualization Framework for Cultural Heritage
2020
Museums and cultural institutions, in general, are in a constant challenge of adding more value to their collections. The attractiveness of assets is practically tightly related to their value obeying the offer and demand law. New digital visualization technologies are found to give more excitements, especially to the younger generation as it is proven by multiple studies. Nowadays, museums around the world are currently trying to promote their collections through new multimedia and digital technologies such as 3D modeling, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and serious games. However, the difficulty and the resources required to implement such technologies present a real challen…
A Novel Model for E-Business and E-Government Processes on Social Media
2013
Abstract The global digital economy tends to grow up through the adoption of key technologies, mobility, cloud computing, data mining, artificial intelligence or the extension of social environments. These influences turns up the economy and give rise to new tendencies for obtaining the value. The e-business and e-government strategy is not an easy to organize, although in terms of a fundamental strategy of e-business will be led by the super-expansion of the market. For this reason, the aim of this study is to demonstrate the implications that social media has in the development of electronic business (e-business) and to provide, through a mode, a viable solution to companies or even Gover…
Attraction factors of shopping centers: Effects of design and eco-natural environment on intention to visit
2017
Purpose People visit malls not only to buy a product they need but also to enjoy the atmosphere or environment of the shopping center. Based on design and eco-natural environment, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the attraction factors of shopping centers. Design/methodology/approach The sample comprised 449 consumers from 25 different shopping centers in Bogota. The structural equation model (AMOS) enables the authors to discuss the influence of the design of green and natural spaces in the commercial management of shopping centers, given its positive and significant effect on the intention to visit. Findings Shopping centers are, by definition, spaces with a high level of design o…
Integrated thermodynamic and electrical modelling of a variable-speed reversible heat pump: analysis of the cooling mode operation
2022
Variable-speed reversible heat pumps are increasingly adopted for space heating and cooling in residential and tertiary sectors. It is recognized that these systems will play a key role in medium- and small-scale 4th generation district heating and cooling networks. Indeed, with the high penetration of intermittent renewable energy sources, such technology could help reduce issues related to the surplus of electricity from renewable energy sources by converting it into heat or cold. To reliably assess the benefits achievable in these emerging applications, it is necessary to develop models which can simulate not only the steady-state operation but also the dynamic response of the system wit…

A second strain gradient elasticity theory with second velocity gradient inertia – Part I: Constitutive equations and quasi-static behavior
2013
Abstract A multi-cell homogenization procedure with four geometrically different groups of cell elements (respectively for the bulk, the boundary surface, the edge lines and the corner points of a body) is envisioned, which is able not only to extract the effective constitutive properties of a material, but also to assess the “surface effects” produced by the boundary surface on the near bulk material. Applied to an unbounded material in combination with the thermodynamics energy balance principles, this procedure leads to an equivalent continuum constitutively characterized by (ordinary, double and triple) generalized stresses and momenta. Also, applying this procedure to a (finite) body s…
