This one is the case of Julio's Fair of Valencia, founded in in 1871 under the requiriments of bourgeois taste. Disidentity: New Forms of Identity and Psychopathology. Socio-Anthropological Changes and Development of the Self

2014

The passage from modernity to post-modernity deeply upset the group dimension, and, consequently, personal identity itself. Transformations involving the entire planet, socio-anthropological changes our society had to cope with are producing a change in the dynamics of identity formation and the appearance of new psychopathological figures. The loss of cohesion of the sense of belonging and the weak internalization process of the elements which form the individual identity (cultural, linguistic, religious traditions…) draw an essentially uncertain and temporary existence. Drawing on some themes of subjectual group analysis theory of personality, the article proposes the concept of dis-ident…

Mega Events and Urban Conflicts in Valencia, Spain: Contesting the New Urban Modernity

2011

The local and regional administrations of Valencia, Spain, have been working to position the city, which is the country's third largest in terms of population, as an international destination for luxury tourism through sports mega-events. Valencia's new image as a “mega-events city” has been criticized by citizens and urban-based movements on social and environmental grounds, resulting in various urban conflicts. The aim of this paper is to examine the causes and dynamics of these conflicts in order to understand the discourse and rationales behind the criticism. This will also include an examination of the ways in which these conflicts were managed by the local administration, especially i…

Nowa polityka. Wprowadzenie do ewolucyjności

2017

This article introduces a vision of the new politics that emerges from my recent book Tractatus Politico‑Philosophicus. The Tractatus discusses a number of topics. To name just a few, these are: politics, human nature, the state, freedom, solidarity, democracy, civilization, family and marriage, power, international relations, war and peace. Also, it introduces new words, such as sophocracy, ennobled democracy; nativeculturalism (an alternative to multiculturalism); or parentsexuality, a privileged form of sexuality. It addresses many issues that concern today’s political thinkers. The main objective of my work is to demonstrate the necessity of, and provide a guide for, the redirection of …

Ilustración, catolicismo y género. Feijoo en el debate historiográfico

2023

Emancipazione pubblica e oppressione privata.

2016

The paper intends to focus on the unfinished character of a slow-modernity where women are still in the balance between legitimacy frame concerning their emancipation in the public sphere, and representation frame of traditional roles of spouse and mother in private life; between postmodern values, accepted rationally, and premodern values, internalized emotionally. It often happens so that even the most educated women of the middle and upper class accept and legitimize in the private sphere the symbolic and indirect violence, and sometimes the physical violence by their partners in an effort to reconcile public post-modern expectations and private pre-modern expectations. As the «Acrobat o…

Disegno, progetto e anima dei luoghi

2019

Heroism as legitimation of Enlightenment values: Production strategies, changes and disagreements

2020

Heroism as legitimation of Enlightenment values: Production strategies, changes and disagreements

2020

During the eighteenth century's periods of political insecurity, writers and rulers supported a whole series of arguments aimed at constructing civilizing heroes who are sacrificed for the benefit of the country, society and the «common good.» This article analyses the different strategies and forms through which an enlightened heroism proliferated in the second half of the century and that were in a constant process of being defined. After reviewing the historical coordinates and the debates within which the creation of new heroes unfolded, and without neglecting another type of heroism—that inherited from humanist culture—I will specifically focus on the conquistadores of the Americas, wh…
