The ER-Membrane Transport System Is Critical for Intercellular Trafficking of the NSm Movement Protein and Tomato Spotted Wilt Tospovirus.

2015

Plant viruses move through plasmodesmata to infect new cells. The plant endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is interconnected among cells via the ER desmotubule in the plasmodesma across the cell wall, forming a continuous ER network throughout the entire plant. This ER continuity is unique to plants and has been postulated to serve as a platform for the intercellular trafficking of macromolecules. In the present study, the contribution of the plant ER membrane transport system to the intercellular trafficking of the NSm movement protein and Tomato spotted wilt tospovirus (TSWV) is investigated. We showed that TSWV NSm is physically associated with the ER membrane in Nicotiana benthamiana plants. An…

Lattice Dynamics Study of HgGa2Se4 at High Pressures

2013

We report on Raman scattering measurements in mercury digallium selenide (HgGa2Se4) up to 25 GPa. We also performed, for the low-pressure defect-chalcopyrite structure, lattice-dynamics ab initio calculations at high pressures which agree with experiments. Measurements evidence that the semiconductor HgGa2Se4 exhibits a pressure-induced phase transition above 19 GPa to a previously undetected structure. This transition is followed by a transformation to a Raman-inactive phase above 23.4 GPa. On downstroke from 25 GPa until 2.5 GPa, a broad Raman spectrum was observed, which has been attributed to a fourth phase, and whose pressure dependence was followed during a second upstroke. Candidate …

Application of the collective coordinate method to the analysis of the dynamics of mode-locked fiber lasers

2015

Mode-locked fiber laser are among the few systems that allow to achieve a variety of elaborate optical functions, by means of few optical components. The use of dispersion management brings to this type of lasers a variety of behaviors, which is so rich that the complete mapping and detailed analysis of the stable states becomes impractical when conventional tools based on the intra-cavity field propagation equations, are used. In this thesis we show that the addition of the technique ofcollective coordinates to the conventional theoretical tools, allows to solve at least in part the problem of complexity and diversity of the stable states of the cavity. In particular, we propose the DCCA (…

A Multiresolution Approach Based on MRF and Bak–Sneppen Models for Image Segmentation

2006

The two major Markov Random Fields (MRF) based algorithms for image segmentation are the Simulated Annealing (SA) and Iterated Conditional Modes (ICM). In practice, compared to the SA, the ICM provides reasonable segmentation and shows robust behavior in most of the cases. However, the ICM strongly depends on the initialization phase. In this paper, we combine Bak-Sneppen model and Markov Random Fields to define a new image segmentation approach. We introduce a multiresolution technique in order to speed up the segmentation process and to improve the restoration process. Image pixels are viewed as lattice species of Bak-Sneppen model. The a-posteriori probability corresponds to a local fitn…

Retoriskie līdzekļi emuāru rakstos par menedžmentu

2022

Models of SHS: An overview

2007

International audience; The theoretical models of SHS based on lamellar or cellular approximations of the heterogeneous reactive media are comparatively analyzed. It is shown that the ratio of the reaction time to the characteristic time of heat transfer between particles is a decisive parameter for the combustion wave propagation. When the time of reaction is shorter than the time of heat exchange, the combustion occurs in a discrete mode; in the opposite case, a quasi-homogeneous combustion mode occurs. Development of the discrete cellular model does not discard the quasi-homogeneous approach but markedly extends the scope of combustion theory. This extension enables explanation of many o…

Chaotic multiagent system approach for MRF-based image segmentation

2005

In this paper, we propose a new chaotic approach for image segmentation based on multiagent system (MAS). We consider a set of segmentation agents organized around a coordinator agent. Each segmentation agent performs iterated conditional modes (ICM) starting from its own initial image created using a chaotic mapping. The coordinator agent diversifies the initial images using a crossover and a chaotic mutation operators. The efficiency of our chaotic MAS approach is shown through some experimental results.

Failure mechanisms of flax/epoxy laminates with open hole: a failure map

2017

Aim of this paper is the investigation of the pin/hole contact stress and failure mechanisms of flax/epoxy composite laminates underwent to tensile bearing tests. In particular, the maximum loads and failure modes are evaluated at varying joint geometry. In order to optimize the use of composite materials in structural applications, an experimental failure map, identifying main failure modes of mechanically fastened joints, is obtained by evaluating failure modes (i.e., net tension, shear out, cleavage and bearing) as a function of the pin diameter and the position of the hole from the free edge of the laminate. Main goal of this paper is give a simple experimental methodology to support th…

An energy analysis of IEEE 802.15.6 scheduled access modes

2010

Body Area Networks (BANs) are an emerging area of wireless personal communications. The IEEE 802.15.6 working group aims to develop a communications standard optimised for low power devices operating on, in or around the human body. IEEE 802.15.6 specifically targets low power medical application areas. The IEEE 802.15.6 draft defines two main channel access modes; contention based and contention free. This paper examines the energy lifetime performance of contention free access and in particular of periodic scheduled allocations. This paper presents an overview of the IEEE 802.15.6 and an analytical model for estimating the device lifetime. The analysis determines the maximum device lifeti…
