Among its many benefits are significant improvements in modularity, reusability, flexibility, and extensibility. The database community has already taken advantage of the OO approach and produced a number of OO DBMSs, much faster than in the case of the previous generation of relational systems.

Gain sideband splitting in dispersion oscillating fibers

International audience; We analyze the modulation instability spectrum in a varying dispersion optical fiber as a function of the dispersion oscillation amplitude. For large dispersion oscillations, we predict a novel sideband splitting into different sub-sidebands. The emergence of the new sidebands is observed whenever the classical perturbation analysis for parametric resonances predicts vanishing sideband amplitudes. The numerical results are in good quantitative agreement with Floquet or Bloch stability analysis of four-wave mixing in the periodic dispersion fiber. We have also shown that linear gain or loss may have a dramatic influence in reshaping the new sidebands.

This paper presents a high-frequency pulse-density-modulated (PDM) soft-switching series load resonant inverter for use in induction heating (IH) fixed roller applications, which is used in copy and printing machines. The proposed simple high-frequency resonant inverter uses an asymmetrical pulse pattern PDM control scheme to achieve complete zero-current soft-switching commutations over a wide output range of input power regulation. Digital power conversion system based on a sigma-delta modulator linear model

This paper presents a new linear model for the sigma-delta (/spl Sigma//spl Delta/) modulator, based on modeling the nonlinear quantizer with a linear factor, and its input-to-output transfer function is given. The use of a 1-bit sigma-delta modulator in DC/DC power converter systems permits to implement a complete digital control. Results of an investigation from a prototype for a DC-DC converter are here reported. Using of a field programmable gate array allows implementing a simple variable control function. The modulator output produces a variable-frequency variable duty-ratio signal to control the switching power transistors.
Transient nutations decay: The effect of field-modified dipolar interaction

The anomalous behavior of transient nutations is experimentally investigated in a set of two-level $(S=\frac{1}{2})$ spin systems differing only in spin concentration. Our results show that the non-Bloch power dependence of the decay rate of transient nutations is a concentration-dependent effect, which is more and more pronounced in more and more concentrated samples. The experimental results are interpreted in the framework of the recent theory by Shakhmuratov et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 79, 2963 (1997)] and support the hypothesis that the anomalous decay of transient nutations in solids originates from radiation-induced changes of the dipolar field, rather than from residual fluctuations of…

This paper presents a method for measuring the loop gain frequency response of digitally controlled power converters, without the need of any expensive measurement equipment such as frequency response analyzers (FRA). The method is based on the traditional perturbation and measurement scheme. The perturbation is internally synthesized by the DSP and applied as pulse-width modulation to the converter.
