Emulation of n-photon Jaynes Cummings and Anti-Jaynes-Cummings models via parametric modulation of cyclic qutrit

2019

We study a circuit QED setup involving a single cavity mode and a cyclic qutrit whose parameters are time modulated externally. It is shown that in the dispersive regime this system behaves as a versatile platform to implement effective $n$-photon Jaynes-Cummings (JC) and anti-Jaynes-Cummings (AJC) models by suitably setting the modulation frequency. The atomic levels and the cavity Fock states involved in the effective Hamiltonians can be controlled through adjustment of the system parameters, and different JC and AJC interactions can be implemented simultaneously using multitone modulations. Moreover, one can implement some models that go beyond simple JC and AJC-like interaction, such as…

Microwave induced co-tunneling in single electron tunneling transistors

2002

Abstract The influence of microwaves on the co-tunneling in single electron tunneling transistors has been investigated as function of frequency and power in the temperature range from 150 to 500 mK. All 20 low frequency connections and the RF line were filtered, and the whole cryostat was suspended on rubber bellows. Cross-talk was minimized by using individual coaxial lines between the sample and the room temperature electronics. The co-tunneling experiments were performed at zero DC bias current by measuring the voltage response to a very small amplitude 2 Hz current modulation with the gate voltage fixed at maximum Coulomb blockade. With the microwave signal applied to one side of the t…

Hole-doped Hubbard ladders

2005

The formation of stripes in six-leg Hubbard ladders with cylindrical boundary conditions is investigated for two different hole dopings, where the amplitude of the hole density modulation is determined in the limits of vanishing DMRG truncation errors and infinitely long ladders. The results give strong evidence that stripes exist in the ground state of these systems for strong but not for weak Hubbard couplings. The doping dependence of these findings is analysed.

Pulse-frequency-modulated high-frequency-carrier diffractive elements for pattern projection

1994

An efficient two-stage algorithm is presented for the synthesis of high-frequency-carrier diffractive elements. First, an on-axis phase-only stripe-geometry element with an unconstrained profile along each stripe is designed by an iterative Fourier transform algorithm. In the second stage, a steep linear phase term is added, and the profile is hard-clipped along each stripe. The result is a binary, pulse-frequency-modulated element suitable, e.g. , for a resonance-domain realization, which permits the elimination of the twin image. Experimental results are provided by direct-write electron-beam lithography and optical lithography, using both fully and partially coherent illumination.

Differential operator formalism for axial optical vortex beam and the double-phase-ramp converter

2019

A systematic study of the properties of the output dark rays or singular skeleton for the Laguerre-Gaussian beam LG 01 passed through double-phase-ramp converter is presented. When the DOE is discontinuous at the origin, as is the case here, the transfer function is not analytical, so that a special theoretical approach is needed. The previously reported formalism of scattering modes, which permitted the analytical calculation of arbitrary multisingular Gaussian beams, requires analyticity everywhere. We present here an adaption of this formalism that overcomes this limitation. The procedure is based on the differential operator algebra used in the previous construction. We give an example …

Integrated InGaAlAs/InP laser-modulator using an identical multiple quantum well active layer

2005

We present experimental results on 40 Gb/s large-signal modulation performance of 1.31 μm monolithic integrated laser-modulator in the InGaAlAs/InP material system, exploiting the gain and absorption properties of an identical multiple quantum well (MQW) active layer. In continuous wave operation, at 15◦ C, the devices achieved threshold currents < 28 mA, fiber coupled optical power levels up to +0.4 dBm. The measured small signal modulation bandwidth was about 32 GHz. An air-cavity based Fabry-Perot interferometer has been realized to characterize the spectral chirp of the integrated structures in the time domain up to 40 Gb/s.

A three domain controller for a high frequency high power four quadrant power converter for superconducting magnets

2002

The paper describes the implementation of a controller that orchestrates the functioning of three subsystems that implement a high energy converter (/spl plusmn/1500 A, /spl plusmn/15 V) that supplies a superconducting magnet to be used in particle accelerators. The performance of the whole system, in accordance to specifications, is documented with experimental results.

A new radiation infrastructure for the Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy, based on version 2.51)

2016

Abstract. The Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy) provides an interface to couple submodels to a basemodel via a highly flexible data management facility (Jöckel et al., 2010). In the present paper we present the four new radiation related submodels RAD, AEROPT, CLOUDOPT and ORBIT. The submodel RAD (with shortwave radiation scheme RAD_FUBRAD) simulates the radiative transfer, the submodel AEROPT calculates the aerosol optical properties, the submodel CLOUDOPT calculates the cloud optical properties, and the submodel ORBIT is responsible for Earth orbit calculations. These submodels are coupled via the standard MESSy infrastructure and are largely based on the original radiation scheme of …
