Background The aim of this study was to evaluate whether calcium (CaL) solution would enhance the capacity of sodium fluoride (NaF) solution in reducing the permeability of hypersensitive dentin. Material and Methods Thirty-two Wistar rats ingested for 45 days acidic isotonic drink (Gatorade, pH 2.7) ad libitum to induce dental erosion. The magnesium support with the formula MgCl 2 (THF) 0.32 (Et 2 AlCl) 0.36 was used for immobilization of salen complexes of titanium [Ti(salen)Cl 2 , Ti(salen(O-Me) 2 )Cl 2 ]. The effects of the catalyst composition (i.e. type of titanium complex and type of activator), polymerization temperature, polymerization time, and the effect of comonomer (1-octene) on the activity of the obtained supported catalysts, on the polymer characteristics (molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, melting point), and on the polymer morphology were studied. The reaction of 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) with ICl in a 1:1 molar ratio in CH2Cl2 produced the expected charge-transfer complex [4-NH2-1λ4-C5H4N-1-ICl] (1·ICl) and the ionic species [(4-NH2-1λ4-C5H4N)2-1μ-I+][Cl–] (2·Cl–) in a 2:1 relation, as indicated by 1H NMR spectroscopy in solution. In contrast, only the ionic compound [(4-NH2-1λ4-C5H4N)2-1μ-I+][IBr2–] (2·IBr2–) was observed in the analogous reaction with IBr. Objectives: To study 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) spectral characteristics aiming at their future application in analytical procedures and their validation for the determination of 5-HMF in liquid products containing glucose after sterilization.Method: Direct spectrophotometric method for the determination of 5-HMF using the molar absorption coefficient at the absorption maximum (284 nm).Results and discussion: aqueous 5-HMF solutions have strong absorption in the ultraviolet range below 310 nm and give two absorption maxima at wavelengths of 229–230 nm and 284 nm. Activation of NHE-1 is one way for allowing cells to avoid intracellular acidification and protect them against apoptosis.
