Synthesis and characterization of new oxazoline-based palladacycles with bridging or terminal imidate ligands. Crystal structures of [{Pd(μ-dibromoma…

2008

Abstract The dinuclear hydroxo complex [{Pd(μ-OH)(Phox)}2] (I) (Phox = 2-(2-oxazolinyl)phenyl) reacts in a 1:2 molar ratio with several imidate ligands to yield new cyclometallated palladium complexes [{Pd(μ-NCO)(Phox)}2] containing asymmetric imidate –NCO– bridging units. [–NCO– = succinimidate (succ) (1), phtalimidate (phtal) (2), maleimidate (mal) (3), 2,3-dibromomaleimidate (2,3-diBrmal) (4) and glutarimidate (glut) (5)]. The reaction of these complexes with tertiary phosphines provides novel mononuclear N-bonded imidate derivatives of the general formula [Pd(imidate)(Phox)(PR3)] [R = Ph (a), 4-F–C6H4 (b) or CH2CH2CN (c)]. The new complexes were characterized by partial elemental analys…

Solutions properties and solute–solvent interactions in ternary sugar–salt–water solutions

2010

International audience; Viscometric constants were used to provide information on solute-solvent interactions in ternary water-sugar-salt solutions. Comparison was made between pure water and aqueous salt solution as solvents affecting the behaviour of small carbohydrates. The determination of intrinsic viscosity was made more accurate by applying triple extrapolation of the three equations (Huggins. Kramer and Meffroy-Biget). Results obtained with this triple extrapolation method were compared to that obtained with the Jones-Dole equation usually used. The B coefficient of the Jones-Dole equation was interpreted in terms of its components (B(size)) and (B(structure)), respectively assigned…

Interactions of the alternating double stranded copolymer poly(dA-dT).poly(dA-dT) with NiCl2 and CdCl2: solution behaviour

2007

The thermal denaturation of the synthetic high molecular weight double stranded polynucleotide poly(dA-dT) x poly(dA-dT) has been studied in aqueous buffered solution (Tris 1.0 mM; pH 7.8+/-0.2) in the presence of increasing concentrations of either Ni(2+) (borderline cation) or Cd(2+) (soft cation) at four different constant ionic strength values (NaCl), making use of UV and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopies. The experimental results show that the B-type double helix of the polymer is stabilized against thermal denaturation in the presence of both cations at low concentrations, relative to the systems where only NaCl is present, in the same conditions of ionic strength and pH. The eff…

Evaluation of the penetration of CHX 2% on dentinal tubules using Conventional Irrigation, Sonic Irrigation (EDDY) and Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation …

2021

Background Various procedures and techniques have been developed to increase the effectiveness and penetration of irrigants into the dentinal tubules and anatomical anfractuosities. Objective: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the effect of different irrigation techniques such as conventional irrigation with a syringe, sonic activation irrigation with EDDY and Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation. All these on dentinal tubule penetration using Chlorhexidine. Material and methods 45 lower premolar teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons were used. These teeth were decoronated to a length of 18mm. This working length was achieved by inserting a size 15 K file into the root canal unti…

Volumetric and Ultrasonic Studies of 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Trifluoromethanesulfonate Ionic Liquid with Methanol, Ethanol, 1-Propanol, and Water…

2007

The speed of sound and density of mixtures of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate ([emim][triflate]) with methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, and water, as well as of the pure components have been experimentally measured over the whole range of compositions at T = (278.15 to 338.15) K and atmospheric pressure. From these experimental data, the excess molar volume, excess isentropic compressibility, and excess speed of sound have been calculated and fitted to an extended version of the Redlich−Kister equation, which takes into account the dependence on composition and temperature simultaneously. The Prigogine−Flory−Patterson theory has also been used to explain the behavior of t…

Density, Speed of Sound, and Refractive Index of 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Trifluoromethanesulfonate with Acetone, Methyl Acetate, and Ethyl Acetat…

2009

Densities, speeds of sound, and refractive indices of the binary mixtures of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate ([emim][triflate]) with acetone, methyl acetate, and ethyl acetate were experimentally measured over the whole range of compositions at T = (278.15 to 328.15) K and a pressure of 0.1 MPa. From these experimental data, excess molar volumes, excess isentropic compressibilities, molar refractions, and deviations in refractive indices have been calculated and fitted to an extended version of the Redlich−Kister equation, which takes into account the dependence on composition and temperature simultaneously. The Prigogine−Flory−Patterson theory has been used to specula…

Synthesis of linear and three-arm star tert-chlorine-telechelic polyisobutylenes by a two-step conventional laboratory process

1997

A two-step conventional laboratory process was developed for the synthesis of mono- and difunctional linear and three-arm star tert-chlorine-telechelic polyisobutylenes (PIB) with desired molecular weights (MW) and narrow molecular weight distribution (MWD) by living carbocationic polymerization (LCCP). This polymerization method applies easy to handle operations and chemicals. LCCP of isobutylene (IB), was carried out in CH2Cl2 as solvent and with BCl3 as coinitiator in the first step to obtain soluble low MW PIB prepolymer with narrow MWD. This was followed by addition of hexane, TiCl4 and additional monomer in the second step to prepare PIBs with desired MW and narrow MWD in practically …

Study of Structure–Third-Order Susceptibility Relation of Indandione Derivatives

2016

By using the Z-scan method we studied the third-order nonlinear optical parameters of several aminobenziliden-1,3-indandione (ABI) derivatives that have previously been shown to own second-order nonlinear optical properties. Measurements were carried out using two 1064 nm Nd:YAG lasers with picosecond (ps) and nanosecond (ns) pulse widths, respectively. When ns laser was employed in the Z-scan setup, a strong thermal lensing took place resulting in severe overestimation of optical Kerr coefficients. Due to this reason the ps laser was employed to evaluate correct magnitude of Kerr effect. For investigated organic molecules, experimental results show that two-photon absorption at 1064 nm is …

The calculation of the number-average degree of polymerization starting from intrinsic viscosity and overall rate

1962

The relation between the intrinsic viscosity [η] and the number-average degree of polymerization Pn is a function of the molecular weight distribution of the polymer. In a polymer in which the termination of polymer radicals occurs partly by combination of two growing chains, this molecular weight distribution depends on number and extent of additional reactions such as chain transfer; i.e., it is variable. Therefore Pn of such polymers cannot be obtained from intrinsic viscosity measurements by means of an equation of the type [η] = KPna. A new method is proposed which allows the evaluation of Pn in these cases, without necessity of osmotic (or related) measurements or fractionation. The v…
