Hexakis(diethylacetamide)iron(II) hexahalorhenate(IV) ionic salts: X-ray structures and magnetic properties

Two novel Fe<sup>II</sup>-Re<sup>IV</sup> compounds of general formula [Fe<sup>II</sup>(DEA)<inf>6</inf>][Re<sup>IV</sup>X<inf>6</inf>] where DEA = diethylacetamide and X = Cl (1) and Br (2) have been prepared and magnetostructurally characterised. Complexes 1 and 2 are isomorphic ionic salts that crystallise in the trigonal crystal system with space group R(-3). The rhenium(IV) ion in 1 and 2 is six-coordinate with six chloro (1) or bromo (2) ligands building a regular octahedral chromophore. Reaction of the unidentate pyridine ligand containing a bulky t-butyl substituent with Fe2+ and [Au(CN)2]− affords a new type of spin crossover (SCO) coordination polymer in the 1D compound [Fe(4-tBupy)3][Au(CN)2]2⋅0.5H2O (1), which is formed by chains of Fe(II) complexes linked through bridging [Au(CN)2]− with three terminal 4-tBupy and one monodentate [Au(CN)2]− ligands completing the octahedral coordination around Fe(II). Single-molecule spin transport represents the lower limit of miniaturization of spintronic devices. These experiments, although extremely challenging, are key to understand the magneto-electronic properties of a molecule in a junction. Theoretical insights on the importance of anchoring vs molecular geometry in magnetic molecules acting as junctions

The anchoring of the molecule to an electrode is known to be a key factor in single-molecule spintronics experiments. Likewise, a relaxation down to the most stable geometry is a critical step in theoretical simulations of transport through single-molecule junctions. Herein we present a set of calculations designed to analyze and compare the effect of different anchoring points and the effect of perturbations in the molecular geometry and interelectrode distance. Effects of water removal on the structure and spin-crossover in an anilato-based compound

The crucial role played by a crystallization water molecule in the spin crossover (SCO) temperature and its hysteresis is described and discussed in compound [NBu4][Fe(bpp)2][Cr(C6O4Br2)3]⋅2.5H2O (1), where bpp = 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine and (C6O4Br2)2− = dianion of the 3,6-dibromo-2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone. The compound has isolated [Fe(bpp)2]2+ cations surrounded by chiral [Cr(C6O4Br2)3]3− anions, NBu4+ cations, and a water molecule H-bonded to one of the non-coordinated N–H groups of one bpp ligand. High-frequency EPR study on Cu4Cu- and Co4Co-metallacrown complexes

Abstract High-frequency/high-field electron paramagnetic resonance studies on two homonuclear 12-MC-4 metallacrown complexes Cu4Cu and Co4Co are presented. For Cu4Cu, our data imply axial-type g-anisotropy with g x = 2.03 ± 0.01 , g y = 2.04 ± 0.01 , and g z = 2.23 ± 0.01 , yielding g = 2.10 ± 0.02 . No significant zero field splitting (ZFS) of the ground state mode is observed. In Co4Co, we find a m S = ± 3 / 2 ground state with g = 2.66 . The data suggest large anisotropy D of negative sign.
On the ‘expanded local mode’ approach applied to the methane molecule: isotopic substitution CH2D2←CH4

On the basis of a compilation of the ‘expanded local mode’ model and the general isotopic substitution theory, sets of simple analytical relations between different spectroscopic parameters (harmonic frequencies, ωλ, anharmonic coefficients, x λμ, ro-vibrational coefficients, , different kinds of Fermi- and Coriolis-type interaction parameters) of the CH2D2 molecule are derived. All of them are expressed as simple functions of a few initial spectroscopic parameters of the mother, CH4, molecule. Abstract A set of 36 heterocyclic (B, N and O) fluorene (C) derivatives fused in nine ways with fulvene ring have been analyzed by means of different local aromaticity criteria. Molecular geometry of analyzed compounds were optimized at B3LYP/6-311++G(2d,2p) level of theory. The evaluation of the local aromaticity has been carried out through the use of the geometry-based harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity (HOMA) and the magnetism-based zz‐component of the nucleus independent chemical shifts calculated 1 A above the ring center (NICS1zz) indices as well as one aromaticity index derived from the Quantum Theory Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM), i.e. the para-delocalization index (PDI). Hydrogen bonding interaction of N5H with water: A first principle calculations

Abstract The cyclopentazol (N5H) and its anion counterpart (N5–) have been studied extensively over the years and detected in the gas phase as well as in solution recently. In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to understand the interaction with water molecule using first principle calculations. Nature of interactions have been studied using both energy decomposition analysis and atoms in molecule (AIM) theory calculations. Further, the strength of non-covalent interactions were analysed using IGMplots.
