[99mTc]Ca-Phytate: Some colloidal characteristics related to the optimal preparation conditions
1983
Abstract Some physico-chemical characteristics of the colloidal radiopharmaceutical [ 99 m Tc]Ca-phytate related to optimal preparation conditions have been studied. (1,2) It is demonstrated that the Ca 2+ -phytate stoichiometry is 6:1. Two different Ca-phytate colloids seem to be formed, mainly depending on the Ca 2+ :phytate molar ratio-one of low mycelar size for a 1:1 Ca 2+ :phytate molar ratio ( cmc ∗ = 5.10 −5 M ) , and another one, with a higher mycelar size for a 6:1 molar ratio (cmc = 8.10 −5 M). This last one it probably better for providing a good quality splenic uptake.
Contrasting responses of Kupffer cells and inflammatory mononuclear phagocytes to biliary obstruction in a mouse model of cholestatic liver injury.
2012
Background Biliary obstruction and cholestasis are serious complications of many liver diseases. Although resident hepatic macrophages (Kupffer cells) are frequently implicated in disease progression, most studies fail to differentiate the contribution of Kupffer cells and inflammatory mononuclear phagocytes (iMNPs) that infiltrate the liver subsequent to obstruction. Aim This study was undertaken to examine the roles and potential interactions of these two disparate mononuclear phagocyte populations in hepatic injury attending cholestasis. Methods Female, C57Bl/6 mice were injected with magnetic beads on day 3 prior to sham operation or bile duct ligation (BDL) to facilitate subsequent Kup…
Die Milzszintigraphie als Methode zur funktionellen Milzanalyse
1970
1. Percussion and palpation are only a superficial and subjective measure for the determination of a splenic tumor. Comparative scintigraphic and clinical investigations in more than 4,000 patients have shown that about 50% of spleens weighing between 600 and 750 g are not palpable. Considering the widespread use of radioisotope scanning it seems justified to claim that the size of the spleen during clinical investigation should be determined by a scan. In scientific problems one has to insist on the use of this method in any case. 2. Depending on the fact that until now no functional test for the spleen is available, it is of great importance that it is now possible to carry out a highly a…
Mononuclear Cells in Exudative Malignant Pleural Effusions
1994
The aims of this study were to develop a methodology for the isolation of highly enriched mononuclear phagocyte populations from exudative malignant pleural effusions (EMPE) and to characterize the phenotype and functional properties of these cells. Pleural effusion mononuclear cells (PEMC) were isolated by Ficoll centrifugation of EMPE and transudative pleural effusions and allowed to adhere to plastic for 1 h to obtain a pleural effusion mononuclear adherent cell (PEMAC) fraction. Only 66.0±4.2 percent of PEMAC ingested latex particles, indicating that a significant proportion of PEMAC were not phagocytic cells. Latex-positive PEMAC had the morphologic appearance of macrophages and staine…
P68 A diet rich in wheat alpha-amylase/trypsin inhibitors (ATIs) enhances disease progression in the MRL-Fas(lpr) mouse model of systemic lupus eryth…
2020
Background Wheat alpha-amylase/trypsin inhibitors (ATIs) are the second most prevalent proteins in wheat (3–4% vs 80–90% for gluten) and potent activators of the innate immune system via the toll like receptor 4 (TLR4)-MD2-CD14 complex in cells of the mononuclear phagocyte system (Junker Y et al, J Exp Med 2012), triggering several autoimmune/inflammatory diseases. In contrast, pure gluten that is de-enriched of ATIs shows no stimulatory activity. MRL-Fas(lpr) mice develop progressive and spontaneous glomerular, tubulointerstitial and perivascular kidney disease, arthritis, lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly and circulating autoantibodies in a syndrome that resembles systemic lupus erythematosus…
Oral manifestations and dental management of patient with leukocyte alterations
2011
Leukocytes are the main cellular elements of inflammatory and immune reactions of the organism. Leukocyte alterations are the consequence of an imbalance between the formation of leukocytes in the bone marrow and its elimination by the mononuclear phagocytic system. Factors that can modify leukopoyesis are varied and can lead to an alteration in the number of leukocytes or tumoral alterations of white cells (leukemias, lymphomas and plasma cell tumors). There is also a wide range of clinical manifestations that can derive from them: from very slight symptoms to life-threatening conditions. In some cases oral manifestations will be the first signs and it will be the dentist’s responsibility …
ACTH-Eosinopenie nach Splenektomie und Blockade des RES
1955
