Flow cytometric analysis of glyoxalase-1 expression in human leukocytes.

Altered glyoxalase-1 (GLO-1) activity and expression is associated with the development of late diabetic complications, malignancy and oxidative stress- and aging-related diseases. In the present study, we developed a flow cytometry method for GLO-1 detection in human leukocytes isolated from peripheral blood samples to investigate GLO-1 expression in leukocyte subsets from type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus patients (n = 11) and healthy subjects (n = 8). The flow cytometry analysis of GLO-1 in leukocytes showed that expression index of GLO-1-positive cells was slightly increased in mononuclear leukocytes from diabetic patients. Pentoxifylline Inhibits Vγ9/Vδ2 T Lymphocyte Activation of Patients with Active Behçet's Disease in Vitro

The aim of this study is to evaluate the in vitro effect of pentoxifylline (PTX) on T Vgamma9/Vdelta2 lymphocyte function in Behçets disease (BD). We investigated the effect of PTX on Vgamma9/Vdelta2 T cell expansion and expression of TNFRII receptor and perforin content before and after PTX addition by means of FACS analysis lymphocyte cultures from patients with active and inactive BD and healthy subjects. The addition of PTX at a concentration of 1 mg/ml determined a significant inhibition of cell expansion, a down regulation of TNF receptor expression and inhibited the PMA-induced degranulation of perforin. Prolonged preterm rupture of fetal membranes, a consequence of an increased maternal anti-fetal T cell responsiveness.

A fetus, although semi-allogeneic, is usually accepted by the maternal immune system. However, complications, including alloresponsive mechanisms, are thought to be potentially detrimental for a successful pregnancy. Therefore, we compared allogeneic T cell responses of nonpregnant women with the response of healthy pregnant women and pregnant women who have various gestation-associated diseases. Autoregulatory role of interleukin-10 in hepatitis C patients treated with IFN-alpha.

Interferon-alpha2 (IFN-alpha2) is used as standard treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C (cHCV), but little is known about the immunomodulatory effects of this cytokine in vivo. We have studied immunologic parameters in freshly isolated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of 26 patients with cHCV 12 h before and 12 h after the first s.c. injection of 5-6 MU IFN-alpha2. Chronic hepatitis C: the viral load per liver cell before treatment as a new marker to predict long-term response to IFN-α therapy

AIM To evaluate associations between miRNA target genes IL12B, INSR, CCND1 and IL10 polymorphisms and gastric cancer (GC) in European population. Recently, it was demonstrated in chronic hepatitis C that the release of IgG and IgM anti-HCV antibodies by mononuclear cells (PBMCs) correlated with inflammatory activity, HCV persistence in serum, and negative outcome from antiviral therapy. Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a disease related to a complement disorder, namely a deficiency of C1 esterase inhibitor. Complement-split products are implicated in the regulation of the immune response, and we have compared some immunologic parameters between HAE and normal individuals. T-lymphocytes with receptors for IgG were increased in HAE, but no difference in T-cell suppressor activity for B-cells was detected.
