Demokratie und Gemeinschaft. Oder: wie kontrovers ist die Kommunitarismusdebatte?

1996

2000

The following paper analyzes the problem of social cooperation in the provision of a public good from an evolutionary perspective. To this end we depart from behavioral programs as the basic building block for modeling individuals in the social interaction, which is based on a generalized prisoners dilemma. In it, a population of individuals follow a conditional cooperative program, which some authors refer as to morality, and that we will show that is equivalent to the application of the principle of reciprocity. It will be shown that the degree of cooperation, that is the individual contribution toward the provision of the public good, is positive although sub-optimal. Finally, if we comp…

Mobbing – et forsøk på nye teoretiske perspektiv

2014

Published version of an article in the journal: Studier i Pædagogisk Filosofi. Also available from the publisher at: http://ojs.statsbiblioteket.dk/index.php/spf/article/view/13325 Open Access This article discusses the understanding of bullying and how it first appears as a phenomenon in early childhood. Empirical research on the social life of young children indicates a capacity for empathy that is independent of social learning. Based upon Merleau-Ponty`s philosophy of the body and Levinas’s existentialist notion of the origin of morality, the article emphasize empathy and the sense of responsibility as a fundamental event in our initial encounter with one another – not learned competence…

2019

The aim of this article is to examine how and why – in the current legal context, and because of some relevant changes that are ripening – the legal practice is supported by a solid professional ethics of the legal roles, summed up in the respect of the rule of law. Other elements that in the past seemed crucial to explain the legal order nowadays are inadequate and a legal theory without considering the role of lawyers is incomplete. After indicating the changes in the background, it will follow an analysis of the legal professional ethics and the reasons of its specificity. Against what is supported by the recent literature about eliminativism in legal philosophy, the perspective of profe…

Ciò che è vivo del positivismo giuridico

2021

In his latest book Massimo La Torre makes a number of criticisms to legal positivism. Most of them are convincing. In this essay I try to reply to the few I disagree with. In particular, I deal with La Torre’s objections against Hart’s theories on legal interpretation and the internal point of view and against Raz’s theory of legitimate authority. In the last paragraph I outline some ideological reasons for not considering legal positivism entirely dead.

Valores y tiempo libre.

Weight Bias Internalization

2018

Weight stigma typically focuses on suggestions that people with overweight and obesity are incompetent and immoral. Integrating so far unconnected lines of research, the current research presents two studies that examine the motivational relevance of these aspects of weight stigma. Specifically, we tested the proposition that people with overweight and obesity respond differently to the public viewing them as incompetent compared to immoral, as these aspects of weight stigma differ in reparability. We expect that threats to competence are more acceptable and thus related to a constructive response that is more effective in losing weight in the long-run. By contrast, we propose that threats …
