A wavelet-based demosaicking algorithm for embedded applications
2010
This paper presents an alternative to the spatial reconstruction of the sampled color filter array acquired through a digital image sensor. A demosaicking operation has to be applied to the raw image to recover the full-resolution color image. We present a low-complexity demosaicking algorithm processing in the wavelet domain. Produced images are available at the output of the algorithm either in the spatial representation or directly in the wavelet domain for high-level post processing in the latter domain. Results show that the computational complexity has been lowered by a factor of five compared to state of the art demosaicking algorithms.

The complete genome sequence of Lamium mild mosaic virus, a member of the genus Fabavirus
2013
Springer-Verlag Wien 2013 Abstract Lamium mild mosaic virus (LMMV) is the only one of the five members of the genus Fabavirus for which there are no nucleotide sequence data. In this study, the complete genome sequence of LMMV was determined and compared with the available complete genome sequences of other members of the genus Fabavirus. The genome was the largest of the genus but maintained the typical orga- nization, with RNA 1 of 6080 nucleotides (nt), RNA 2 of 4065 nt, and an unusually long 3 0 untranslated region in RNA 2 of 603 nt. Phylogenetic analysis of the amino acid sequences of the protease-polymerase (Pro-Pol) region and the two coat proteins confirmed that LMMV belongs to a d…

[EN] The archaeological excavations that have been carried out in the Hispano-Roman city of Valeria have exhumed the remains of a thermal complex from the 1st century AD that it was in service for four centuries and that, after its abandonment, it was barely spoiled for its constructive and decorative materials. This circumstance has allowed the conservation of a paving mosaic in a good state of preservation. In this same room has been recovered an important collection of fragments corresponding to the parietal musive decoration that constitutes a unique corpus in the Roman archaeology of the province of Cuenca. Due to the historical-archaeological importance of this type of elements, a met…
Familial ring (18) mosaicism in a 23-year-old young adult with 46,XY,r(18) (::p11→q21::)/46,XY karyotype, intellectual disability, motor retardation …
2010
We report on a 23-year-old man with craniofacial findings of the holoprosencephaly spectrum disorder (microcephaly, hypotelorism, depressed nasal bridge, single median maxillary central incisor), fusion of C2-C3 vertebrae, intellectual disability, and severe sleep apnea. Chromosome analysis of blood lymphocytes showed 75% ring (18) cells and 25% normal cells, karyotype mos 46,XY,r(18)(::p11→q21::)[75]/46,XY[25]. His mother was phenotypically normal except for a double ureter and bifid renal pelvis as in his son. She had a supernumerary ring (18) in 10% of blood lymphocytes, karyotype mos 47,XX,+r(18)(::p11→q21::)[10]/46,XX[90]. Familial ring (18) is a rare cytogenetic abnormality. This is t…
Detection and identification Fabavirus species by one-step RT-PCR and multiplex RT-PCR
2014
The genus Fabavirus of the family Secoviridae comprises a group of poorly characterized viruses. To date, only five species have been described: Broad bean wilt virus 1 (BBWV-1), Broad bean wilt virus 2 (BBWV-2), Lamium mild mosaic virus (LMMV), Gentian mosaic virus (GeMV) and Cucurbit mild mosaic virus (CuMMV). The development is described of two RT-PCR procedures for the detection and identification of Fabavirus species: a one-step RT-PCR using a single pair of conserved primers for the detection of all fabaviruses, and a one-step multiplex RT-PCR using species-specific primers for the simultaneous detection and identification of the above-mentioned species of the genus Fabavirus. These m…
APPLICATION OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES FOR GLACIER RESEARCH IN THE ARCTIC AND ANTARCTIC
2019
Unmanned aerial vehicles or drones are nowadays widely used in a broad field of scientific and commercial applications. Despite this, it is quite a new method for glacier mapping in polar regions and has a lot of advantages, as well as disadvantages over more classical remote sensing instruments. Here we examine the main issues associated with the application of drones for glacier research from our experience in Iceland, Greenland and the Antarctic. We use DJI Phantom series drones for the obtaining of aerial photographs and produce digital surface models (resolution of 8 – 16 cm) and orthomosaics (resolution of 2 – 4 cm) for glacier mapping. Several issues related to the ground control poi…
Cap disease uncapped

With the advent of enzyme histochemistry and electron microscopy, the new nosographic group of congenital myopathies hailed as ‘‘new myopathies’’ [1] was established, largely based on morphological features in biopsied muscle specimens although clinically early (congenital) onset and mild progression were also attributed to these childhood myopathies. When molecular investigations of patients with hereditary neuromuscular diseases began, earlier classifications based on clinical, morphological, and metabolic criteria started to quake, most conspicuously observed in the group of limb girdle muscular dystrophy or limb girdle muscular syndrome, which now comprise seven autosomal dominant (LGMD…
