Arginase 1 Is a Marker of Myeloid-Mediated Immunosuppression with Prognostic Meaning in Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma

Abstract Purpose : Neutrophilia is hallmark of classic Hodgkin Lymphoma (cHL), but its precise characterization remains elusive. We aimed at investigating the immunosuppressive role of high-density neutrophils in HL. Experimental design : First, N-HL function was evaluated in vitro, showing increased arginase (Arg-1) expression and activity compared to healthy subjects. Second, we measured serum level of Arg-1 (s-Arg-1) by ELISA in two independent, training (N=40) and validation (N=78) sets. Results : s-Arg-1 was higher in patients with advanced stage (p=0.045), B-symptoms (p=0.0048) and a positive FDG-PET scan after two cycles of chemotherapy (PET-2, p=0.012). Current treatment options for HER2-positive breast cancer patients with brain metastases

Abstract Brain metastases (BMs) are frequently associated with HER2+ breast cancer (BC). Their management is based on a multi-modal strategy including both local treatment and systemic therapy. Despite therapeutic advance, BMs still have an adverse impact on survival and quality of life and the development of effective systemic therapy to prevent and treat BMs from HER2 + BC represents an unmet clinical need. Correlation between polymorphism of TYMS gene and toxicity response to treatment with 5-fluoruracil and capecitabine

Tumorigenesis is a multiphasic process in which genetic alterations guide the progressive transformation in cancer cells1. In order to evaluate the possible correlation between some gene variants and the risk of the toxicity development onset, two of the polymorphisms of the thymidylate synthase (TYMS), rs34743033 (2R/3R) and rs16430 (DEL/INS) were investigated. We enrolled in our study 47 patients from the Hospital of Sicily.
