A Combined Multidisciplinary Intervention for Health Promotion in the Workplace: A Pilot Study

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of a joint health promotion intervention on a cohort of healthcare workers (HCWs) who had at least one cardiovascular risk factor. The HCWs were assessed at three different times, i.e., time zero (T0), after 6 months (T6), and after 12 months (T12). The following parameters were measured at a medical examination: physical activity, blood pressure, waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), routine laboratory tests, plicometric analysis, work ability index (WAI), and body image dissatisfaction (BID). Technique and safety aspects of resistance exercises: a systematic review of the literature.

A systematic review of the scientific literature was conducted to identify the optimal ranges of motion for preventing injury in the main joints of the body during resistance exercise performance. These ranges of motion are independent of the type in which the resistance exercises could be applied (ie, adults, elderly, athletes, recreational exercisers), and the regions examined include the shoulder, spine, and knee, which are injured most often. It can be concluded that during the performance of any resistance exercise, it is possible to put anatomical structures at risk with certain body positions; therefore, it is necessary to understand these movements so injury can be avoided.

Optic flow in visual displays or virtual environments often induces motion sickness (MS). We conducted two studies to analyze the effects of stereopsis, background sound, and realism (video vs. simulation) on the severity of MS and related feelings of immersion and vection. In Experiment 1, 79 participants watched either a 15-min-long video clip taken during a real roller coaster ride, or a precise simulation of the same ride.
