This study examined adolescents' engagement profiles and their association with situational engagement and academic performance in lower secondary school settings. The data consisted of 301 Grade 7 students from Finland. By utilizing person-oriented approach with Latent Profiling Analysis on subscales capturing students' overall engagement, four subgroups of students with different overall engagement profiles were identified. These profile groups were further analyzed with respect to differences in student background (gender and maternal education), academic performance (GPA, and reading and mathematics tests), and lesson-specific situational engagement. The specific aim of this study was to examine whether motivational climate, perceived physical competence, and exercise motivation predict enjoyment in school physical education within the same sample of adolescents across three years of secondary school. A sample of 639 students (girls = 296, boys = 343) aged between 13- to 15-years at the commencement of the study completed the Intrinsic Motivation Climate in Physical Education Questionnaire, Physical Self-Perception Profile, Physical Education Motivation Scale, and Physical Education Enjoyment Scale. Työn tavoitteena oli selvittää miten ylioppilaskirjoitukset vaikuttavat lukiolaisten ranskan kielen opiskeluun ja opiskelumotivaatioon. Ylioppilaskirjoituksissa ei testata kaikkia kielitaidon osa-alueita, esimerkiksi suullista kielitaitoa. Tämä tarkoittaa sitä, että opiskelijat saattavat kielen opiskelussaan tähdätä vain ylioppilaskirjoituksissa vaadittuihin taitoihin ja opiskelijoiden motivaatio saattaakin vaihdella riippuen heidän suhtautumisestaan ylioppilaskokeeseen. This dissertation contributes to knowledge and understanding of the leader-member exchange (LMX) theory in Chinese organizational settings. The research has three aims. The first aim is to increase knowledge of the LMX theory by contextualizing the theory in the Chinese setting. Leadership and meaningful work: The possibilities and challenges of the Vocational Meaning and Fulfillment Survey In this study we examined how leaders perceive meaningful work and if the new Vocational Meaning and Fulfillment Survey (VMFS) could be used as a leadership tool in organizations. The data were collected through 22 semistructured thematic interviews and analyzed with a phenomenographic approach. Tämän pro gradu-tutkielman aiheena oli liikuntateknologioiden vaikutukset suomalaisten työikäisten kuntoliikkujien liikuntatottumuksiin ja käsityksiin liikunnasta. Tavoitteena oli löytää teemoja, miten liikuntateknologioiden käyttö on vaikuttanut ihmisten käyttäytymiseen sekä asenteisiin liikuntaa kohtaan. Tutkielman pohjana toimi aiemmin aiheesta tehty kirjallisuus ja tutkielma toteutettiin laadullisena. Aineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla kuutta kohdejoukkoon kuulunutta henkilöä.
