Experimental test on a fuel cell powered brushless synchronous motor for automotive applications

In this paper, a fuel cell powered motor emulator is proposed. The MATLAB/Simulink model including the fuel cell stack, the motor and drive models is described. The Urban Driving Cycle test is performed in MATLAB environment. Effective operating conditions of the whole fuel cell powered motor are accurately emulated according to actual regulations in force. The emulated current profile is used for experimental tests on a 5kW Nuvera PowerFlow stack. In this work, the mathematical dynamical model of a PEMFC stack has been developed and implemented in Matlab environment. Lots of simulations have been executed in two different load conditions. Firstly with a resistive load and finally with a synchronous electrical power drive in automotive load conditions. The innovation in this field consists in the integration in PEMFC stack mathematical dynamic model of a synchronous electrical power drive one for automotive purposes. As regards the simulations with a synchronous electrical power drive, the complete mathematical model allows to evaluate the PEMFC stack performances and electrochemical efficiency. This represents a useful design tool.
A new high accuracy software based resolver-to-digital converter

Tracking resolver-to-digital conversion (R/D converter or simply RDC) has emerged as one of the most robust method for obtaining high resolution position and angular speed information from resolvers. In this paper a low cost software based RDC is presented. The main features are: high accuracy, simple set up, high reliability and stability and good performances. Some experimental results, showing the capabilities of the proposed system, are presented and discussed. An output signal comparison between the proposed RDC and a commercial encoder is also presented.

Abstract This paper deals with robust estimation of speed and rotor flux for sensorless control of motion control systems which use induction motors as actuators. Due to the observability lack of five and six order Extended Kalman Filters, speed is here estimated by means of a Total Least Square algorithm with Neural Adaptive mechanism. This allows the use of a fourth-order Kalman Filter for estimating rotor flux and to filter stator currents. Simulation approach for improving CNC milling machines accuracy for single axis motion

CNC milling machines are widely used in manufacturing processes. In time, their accuracy is decreasing, which directly influences the accuracy of the manufactured parts. This research proposes a simulation-based method for improving the accuracy of the above mentioned machines, which is suitable to be applied at the shop floor level. A model of the feed drive, using a dc servomotor as actuator, is the core of the proposed approach. Matlab & Simulink based simulation diagrams were built in order to test the behavior of the system.

Field‐circuit analysis of construction modifications of a torus‐type PMDC motor

This paper presents the field‐circuit analysis of a disc‐type torus DC motor with permanent magnets. Calculations of the magnetic field are carried out using the finite element method (FEM) in the 3D space. The integral quantities like the ripple‐cogging torque, back electromotive force, flux linkage, self and mutual inductances of the winding are analyzed. The electromagnetic torque is comparatively determined from the Maxwell stress tensor and co‐energy methods.
