Members of the Raf family of serine/threonine protein kinases have been well studied in a variety of organisms ranging from Drosophila to humans. Three raf homologues (raf-1, B-raf, and A-raf) exist in mammals, while a single prototypic homologue exists in lower organisms. A wealth of genetic and biochemical data have indicated that Raf family members are signaling kinases that are integral components of the conserved Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK signaling cascade. Negli ultimi anni, nuovi e importanti contributi hanno ricostruito il dibattito intorno alla Legge 180 del 1978, con attenzione tanto al quadro nazionale quanto alle specificità locali. Rimane però poco esplorata la questione del superamento del manicomio al Sud, e in Sicilia in particolare. Il saggio intende presentare i primi risultati di una ricerca sulla ricezione del dibattito sulla rivoluzione psichiatrica nel Mezzogiorno, e propone una riflessione sul complesso quadro in cui nel decennio 1968-78 nell’isola hanno luogo, seppure a macchia di leopardo, intense esperienze di lotta anti-istituzionale.
The effects of a psychomotor training programme on motor skill development in children with developmental language disorders

Abstract The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of two approaches to movement intervention for children with a combination of language and movement difficulties – a specialist approach labelled psychomotor training and regular PE lessons from trained PE teachers. From a sample of 76 children formally classified as suffering from developmental language disorder, 54 (71%) fell below the 15th percentile on a test of motor competence. A school-based movement programme for children with motor learning difficulty

The study investigated the effectiveness of a school-based movement programme for a population of 5 to 7 year old children. Performance profiles on the Movement ABC were used to classify the children and to assess skill changes over time. Children were assigned to four different groups: motor learning difficulty (n = 10), borderline motor learning difficulty ( n = 5), trained controls ( n = 9), untrained controls ( n = 9). The total programme consisted of 26 weekly sessions. Each one-hour session comprised of structured group play, individualized skill training, and relaxation. Attentional biases to emotional scenes in schizophrenia: An eye-tracking study

Attentional biases to emotional information may play a key role in the onset and course of schizophrenia. The aim of this experiment was to examine the attentional processing of four emotional scenes in competition (happy, neutral, sad, threatening) in 53 patients with schizophrenia and 51 controls. The eye movements were recorded in a 20-seconds free-viewing task. Within the alveolus, epithelial cells, due to their close association with endothelial cells, can potentially influence endothelial cell responsiveness during inflammation and their interaction with leukocytes. To investigate this, three lung epithelial cell lines (A549, Calu-3, or NCI-H441) were grown with endothelium on opposing surfaces of Transwell filters and the formation and stability of bilayers was rigorously evaluated. In many species, pneumonectomy triggers compensatory lung growth that results in an increase not only in lung volume, but also in alveolar number. Whether the associated alveolar angiogenesis involves the contribution of blood-borne progenitor cells is unknown. To identify and characterize blood-borne progenitor cells contributing to lung growth after pneumonectomy in mice, we studied wild-type and wild-type/green fluorescence protein (GFP) parabiotic mice after left pneumonectomy.
