Student teachers’ views of their own musical skills to teach the National Core Curriculum in Finland

As in many other countries, Finnish primary school teacher education has reduced substantially the amount of music studies during recent decades. From the perspective of the National Core Curriculum, there is a reason to reflect on teacher education and primary school student teachers’ skills to teach music. The present study investigates 392 student teachers’ musical skills in five different teacher training programmes in Finland. Una aproximación económica a las sociedades musicales

This article is a summary of the first phase of a deeper project which aim is to study the socioeconomic dimension of musical societies. To do so, after having highlighted the importance and significance of musical societies in the Valencian Community, we try to frame their complex organizational and institutional delimitation within the theory of non-profit organizations. By doing so, we are able to make explicit most of the characteristics and functions that define musical societies’ activities. Finally, from the characterization of musical societies as non-assistance multiproductive unities, we offer some descriptive notes about the productive aspects of these societies.

The Relevance of a Conductor Competition for the Study of Emotional Synchronization Within and Between Groups in a Natural Musical Setting

Group emotional dynamics are a central concern in the study of human interaction and communication. To study group emotions, the social context of a musical event in ecological conditions may overcome several limits of laboratory experiments and could provide a suitable ecological framework. This study aimed to evaluate if cultural events such as a conductor competition could welcome scientific research for the study of group emotional sharing.
