La personalidad artística de Vicente Castelló y Amat

1990

LA OBRA DEL PINTOR VALENCIANO VICENTE CASTELLO Y AMAT (1787-1860), DISCIPULO DE VICENTE LOPEZ, SE ESTUDIA AQUI POR PRIMERA VEZ EN SU TOTALIDAD. ESTO PERMITE ENCUADRAR SU PERSONALIDAD MAS ALLA DE LA CONSIDERACION DE MERO SEGUIDOR DEL ACADEMICISMO LOCAL. SE ANALIZA SU PRODUCCION Y SE CONTRIBUYE A LA MISMA CON OBRAS NUEVAS. INCLUYE SU ACTIVIDAD COMO COPISTA DE PINTURAS DEL SIGLO XVII, DURANTE LOS AÑOS DE FORMACION; COMO PINTOR DE TEMAS RELIGIOSOS, DESTACANDO EL IMPORTANTE GRUPO DE FRESCOS DE LA IGLESIA DEL SALVADOR, DE VALENCIA; COMO RETRATISTA; Y FINALMENTE, COMO PINTOR DE BODEGONES, GENERO EN EL QUE SE APRECIAN INFLUENCIAS DE ARTISTAS NAPOLITANOS Y HOLANDESES DEL SIGLO XVII. Quality assessment of protein NMR structures.

2013

Biomolecular NMR structures are now routinely used in biology, chemistry, and bioinformatics. Methods and metrics for assessing the accuracy and precision of protein NMR structures are beginning to be standardized across the biological NMR community. These include both knowledge-based assessment metrics, parameterized from the database of protein structures, and model versus data assessment metrics. On line servers are available that provide comprehensive protein structure quality assessment reports, and efforts are in progress by the world-wide Protein Data Bank (wwPDB) to develop a biomolecular NMR structure quality assessment pipeline as part of the structure deposition process. These qu…

Suicide and Ambient Temperature: A Multi-Country Multi-City Study

2019

Background: Previous literature suggests that higher ambient temperature may play a role in increasing the risk of suicide. However, no multi-country study has explored the shape of the association and the role of moderate and extreme heat across different locations. Objectives: We examined the short-term temperature–suicide relationship using daily time-series data collected for 341 locations in 12 countries for periods ranging from 4 to 40 y. Methods: We conducted a two-stage meta-analysis. First, we performed location-specific time-stratified case-crossover analyses to examine the temperature–suicide association for each location. Then, we used a multivariate meta-regression to combine t…

Reptiles use pterin and carotenoid pigments to produce yellow, orange, and red colors. These conspicuous colors serve a diversity of signaling functions, but their molecular basis remains unresolved. Here, we show that the genomes of sympatric color morphs of the European common wall lizard ( Podarcis muralis ), which differ in orange and yellow pigmentation and in their ecology and behavior, are virtually undifferentiated. Genetic differences are restricted to two small regulatory regions near genes associated with pterin [ sepiapterin reductase ( SPR )] and carotenoid [ beta-carotene oxygenase 2 ( BCO2 )] metabolism, demonstrating that a core gene in the housekeeping pathway of pterin bi…

Nuevas consideraciones sobre el pintor Francesco Pagano

2010

New Acylated Presenegenin Saponins from Two Species ofMuraltia

2004

Six new acylated bisdesmosidic triterpene glycosides 1–6 were isolated from the roots of Muraltia heisteria (L.) DC., as three inseparable mixtures 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6 of the (E)- and (Z)-3,4,5-trimethoxycinnamoyl derivatives. The compound pair 1/2 along with four known saponins were also isolated from the roots of Muraltia satureioides DC. Their structures were elucidated mainly by spectroscopic experiments including 2D-NMR techniques as 3-O-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)presenegenin 28-{O-β-D-apiofuranosyl-(13)-O-[β-D-xylopyranosyl-(14)]-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(12)-O-[6-O-acetyl-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(13)]-4-O-[(E)-3,4,5-trimethoxycinnamoyl]-β-D-fucopyranosyl} ester (1) and its (Z)-isomer 2, 3-O-(β-D-g…

Evolution of oncolytic viruses.

2015

Owing to their replicative capacity, oncolytic viruses (OVs) can evolve under the action of natural selection. Reversion to virulence and recombination with wild-type strains may compromise OV safety, therefore requiring evolutionary risk assessment studies. On the other hand, evolution can be directed in the laboratory to create more potent and safer OVs. Previous work in the experimental evolution field provides a background for OV directed evolution, and has identified interesting exploitable features. While genetic engineering has greatly advanced the field of oncolytic virotherapy, this approach is sometimes curtailed by the complexity and diversity of virus-host interactions. Directed…
