Architectures “on ruins” and ambiguous transparency: the glass in preservation and communication of archaeology

2008

Abstract The contemporary architecture is characterized by an even more marked transparency, as a result of a continuous experimentation all directed towards the search of the built “lightness”, that is towards the “dematerialization” of the architecture and the consequent loss of weight connected to the excess of form. It is in 1851 that a New Architectural Age springs because of the realization of the Crystal Palace, in London – that has addressed towards the experimentation of the glass as an architectural, structural element and of design. Today, part of this experimentation has been applied for some interventions of coverage, protection and communication in situ of the archaeological r…

Capturing and Indexing Rehearsals: The Design and Usage of a Digital Archive of Performing Arts

2015

International audience; Preserving the cultural heritage of the performing arts raises difficult and sensitive issues, as each performance is unique by nature and the juxtaposition between the performers and the audience cannot be easily recorded. In this paper, we report on an experimental research project to preserve another aspect of the performing arts—the history of their rehearsals. We have specifically designed non-intrusive video recording and on-site documentation techniques to make this process transparent to the creative crew, and have developed a complete workflow to publish the recorded video data and their corresponding meta-data online as Open Data using state-of-the-art audi…

Hyperreal positioning and cross-channel strategy of cultural sites: towards the construction of a metaexperience for the visitor?

2019

International audience; Immersive concepts, games, participation, digitization ... many concepts that cultural institutions adopt to enlarge their audiences. Through these tools, reality, imagination and simulation, are mixing to give rise to a hyperreal offer. With the development of digital and multiple consumption behaviors, the analysis of the coherence between physical and digital channels is now a major challenge for museums. Based on 16 French museums case studies, this research proposes some solutions to the articulation of these channels in order to propose a coherent global experience.

La città delle vicinanze

2019

2018

[EN] Exhibition's stage has become a changing exercise over time, linked to a way of thinking historically the work. There are new museographic responses born of the participation of artists, architects and designers, and the role of the curator who, at times, transforms his role as theoretician in artist. Following this evolutionary dynamic, the exhibition has thus forged an almost independent identity of the museum itself. The meaning of the work in the place develops a new grammar that turns the exhibition into a work of art and also opens a debate around its current role
