ESTUDIO SOBRE LOS REFERENTES FEMENINOS EN LA EDUCACIÓN MUSICAL.
2022
International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology (SysMus15).
2016
The 8th International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology (SysMus15) took place from the 17th to 19th of September, 2015, in Leipzig, Germany, a city with a strong academic and musical heritage. Leipzig was home to famous musicians such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert and Clara Schumann, and Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn. It was where Wilhelm Wundt opened the first laboratory for experimental psychology in 1879 (Rieber & Robinson, 2001, p. 206), and where Hugo Riemann founded one of the first institutes for Musicology in 1914 (Gollin & Rehding, 2011, p. 140). Against this background was held a conference highlighting the interdisciplinarity of modern Musicology.Musicology itself …
Musicologie historique, ethnomusicologie, analyse: une musicologie générale est-elle possible?
2010
The subject this article is about dates back to a long teaching experience in Montreal. I taught in a so called "research" seminar, similar to what is called, in German and English speaking countries a Proseminar, where I ask students of the master and doctorate in musicology, to read all or part of the great compositions that have marked the development of our discipline in each of its major sectors: the history of music, musical analysis, ethnomusicology, the study of pop music, sociology, cognitive psychology and the aesthetics of music. I never deal the acoustic music in an incompetent way. However, I have found over the years perplexity in students due to the disciplinary diversity, Th…
The origins of the aesthetic enjoyment of music - A review of the literature
2009
Listeners attribute a positive or negative value to music. This aesthetic experience is known to be observable over the individuals’ entire life span, from early childhood to old age, and in every culture. It is then often concluded that such an aesthetic experience constitutes part of the human nature, having an important biological foundation. This assumption leads to the question of how aesthetic experience of music originated in the biological evolution. In this paper, we will explore this question in the light of evolutionary psychology, cognitive science, and systems neuroscience. After reviewing the existing proposals, we conclude that the explanation of the origin of aesthetic expe…
Music in school teaching processes through the centuries
2015
Acquisition of music terms is a significant component in a contemporary music lesson in a comprehensive school nowadays. Methodology of teaching music as a separate branch in Latvia started developing in the beginning of the 20th century with the analysis of music educators’ experience published by I. Palevics. However, music as a subject at school has a longer history therefore it would be important to explore the pedagogic role of music in different periods because during music lessons not only students’ musicality and personal development are facilitated but also the tradition of singing which includes the tradition of Song Festival is maintained. In 2008 the tradition of Baltic Song and…

National identity, national music and popular music in the Italian Music Press during the long 19th century
2011
Discusses the notions of national identity, national music and popular music as they emerged in Italian music periodicals during the years 1840–1890, in relation to the process of Italy’s political unification and the dissemination of foreign operas such as French grands opéras in the years 1840–1870 and Wagner’s Musikdramen from 1871 on. Essays and articles by relevant critics and musicians, such as Abramo Basevi and Francesco D’Arcais are discussed. Articles by lesser known journalists such as Pietro Cominazzi and Mattia Cipollone are also taken into account. The use of words like “national” and “popular” is analysed when referring to Italian opera, to its history and to the operas by for…
