Music reduces pain and increases functional mobility in fibromyalgia

The pain in Fibromyalgia (FM) is difficult to treat and functional mobility seems to be an important comorbidity in these patients that could evolve into a disability. In this study we wanted to investigate the analgesic effects of music in FM pain. Twenty-two FM patients were passively exposed to (1) self-chosen, relaxing, pleasant music, and to (2) a control auditory condition (pink noise). They rated pain and performed the "timed-up & go task (TUG)" to measure functional mobility after each auditory condition. Few studies have looked or presented the meaning of music performance anxiety from the viewpoint of young musician´s. Whereas most of the studies conducted were quantitative, this study used qualitative approach of phenomenology. The aim of this study was to investigate the experience of young musicians dealing with higher amount of music performance anxiety in clinical music therapy group. The study addressed questions about the role of the group, shared experiences in music and the role of free discussions in therapy. In 2018 it appeared that a peace process on the Korean Peninsula had got underway. Lots of publicity was produced on inter-Korean relations and many types of messages and diplomatic actors started to move across the border with South Korea. One important element in this process was cultural diplomacy, conducted partly by athletes and cheering squads during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games, and partly by musical ensembles. However, the degree to which sociodemographic variables and level of engagement in hobbies contribute to this relationship is largely unknown. Hindrances to recognition in Finnish music schools

This article examines recognition relations between students and teachers in Finnish music schools. The research is based on written texts by music school students. The texts are analysed for difficulties in recognition relations, namely, hindrances to recognition in music schools. In the texts, some of the respondents describe situations that can be analysed as hindrances to recognition. The author analyses four different types of recognition-related problems in the data, the main issue being a tension between caring for people (respecting them) and promoting musical values (emphasising esteem). Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa kuvataan Kelan vaikeavammaisten lääkinnällisen kuntoutuksen palveluntuottajana toimivien musiikkiterapeuttien toimintaa ja sijoittumista yhteiskunnan kuntoutuspalvelujärjestelmään vuosien 2012–2014 välisenä aikana. Lisäksi tutkielmassa tarkastellaan musiikkiterapeuttien kokemuksia kuntoutustyöstä ja yhteistyöstä Kelan ja muiden yhteistyötahojen kanssa.
