The Rapid Evolution of Resistance to Vip3Aa Insecticidal Protein in Mythimna separata (Walker) Is Not Related to Altered Binding to Midgut Receptors

2021

Laboratory selection for resistance of field populations is a well-known and useful tool to understand the potential of insect populations to evolve resistance to insecticides. It provides us with estimates of the frequency of resistance alleles and allows us to study the mechanisms by which insects developed resistance to shed light on the mode of action and optimize resistance management strategies. Here, a field population of Mythimna separata was subjected to laboratory selection with either Vip3Aa, Cry1Ab, or Cry1F insecticidal proteins from Bacillus thuringiensis. The population rapidly evolved resistance to Vip3Aa reaching, after eight generations, a level of >3061-fold resistance…

Post-Secular Identity? Developing a New Approach to Religion in International Relations and IR Studies

2021

In spite of the increasing presence of religion in international relations with various publications observing this presence and numerous authorities calling for the inclusion of religion into mainstream research, there is no universal consent to recognize religion’s role in IR. In our opinion, the only way to reconcile IR with the international reality in which religion has been and will remain present in the foreseeable future is for the researchers themselves to construct—especially those oriented towards broad, non-Western perspective—a new face of the discipline, the face which in this article we call the post-secular identity of IR study. Assuming that identity is first and foremost a…

Abraham Bids Farewell to Hagar and Ishmael: Continuity and Variation of the Iconographic Type

2021

In traditional Christian artistic visualization, the episode of Hagar and Ishmael in the desert has given rise to various iconographic types: “The feast for the weaning of Isaac and Sara’s protests,” “Abraham bids farewell to Hagar and Ishmael,” “Hagar and Ishmael in the desert” and “Divine salvation for Hagar and Ishmael”. This study looks into the continuity and variation over time of the second of these types: “Abraham bids farewell to Hagar and Ishmael,” the one most depicted out of this entire biblical topic or episode. Since the Byzantine Octateuch in the East (11th century.) and the Canterbury Hexateuch (ca. 1025&ndash…

Jo Nesbø’s The Snowman and the Myth of Týr: Addressing Contemporary Issues through Literary Tradition

2018

Sexism and romantic love myths in adolescents living in residential care

2021

The Myth of French Influence Over Spanish Codification: The General Part of the Criminal Codes of 1822 and 1848

2018

The chapter aims to explore the scope of the foreign influences, that of the French in particular, in the criminal codes of 1822 and 1848/50. In doing so, the author departs from the views of some 19th century criminal lawyers who, like J. F. Pacheco, stated that in the old criminal laws “nothing was worthy of respect, or conservation” and “there was only one legitimate and viable system, the system of codification, the system of absolute change,” and recognizing that drafters were fully acquainted with the case of France, a jurisdiction that managed to turn its old laws—including the criminal ones—into modern codes (1804–1811). The author briefly presents the status quaestionis of the dich…

MODELLI, TESTI, PROCESSI: UNO STUDIO COGNITIVO DELLE METAFORE DELESSICALIZZATE E D’INVENZIONE

2014
