Primary tumors of the heart in infants and children are rare. The types of heart tumors in pediatric age groups are generally different from those in adults. Cardiac myxoma is by far the most common tumor in adults, but in infants and adolescents the prevalent tumor of the heart is rhabdomyoma. Among benign cardiac tumors, cardiac hemangiomas are rare and often diagnosed post-mortem due to the lack of specific clinical symptoms and signs. Background Odontogenic myxoma is a rare benign neoplasm that originates from odontogenic ectomesenchyme. There is no standard of care and recurrences are frequent after conservative surgical procedures. Material and methods A retrospective study conducted at a single cancer center, with analysis of medical records of all patients diagnosed with odontogenic myxoma from 1980 to 2010, along with a literature review. The odontogenic myxoma is a rare entity located in mandible and upper maxilla. Due to its local aggressiveness, wide surgical excision is mandatory. Several surgical techniques have been described for the reconstruction of segmental mandibular defects. In comparison with other free flaps, the vascularized free fibular flap (VFFF) supports the longest amount of bone and, due to the nature of the vascular supply a complete freedom in location of the osteotomy is present. An autofluorescent MYXV, with an ANCHOR cassette, has been used for the studies. A(2)B-fluorocorroles display various toxicities, from 40 being very toxic (CC50 = 1.7 mu M) to nontoxic 38 (CC50 > 50 mu M), whereas A(3)-fluorocorroles, with one to three fluorine atoms, are not toxic (with the exception of corroles 9, 10, and 22). Echographic patterns of an orbital myxoma and schwannoma

A case of intramuscular orbital myxoma and of a schwannoma of the orbit were studied with B-scan and standardized A-scan echography as described by Ossoinig. The myxoma appeared as a well outlined process with medium internal reflectivity and areas of low internal reflectivity. Postoperatively the incompletely excised tumour was followed with echography as well as CT and MRI. The second tumour, a schwannoma had a very sharply defined shape, with a thick low to medium reflective outer wall and low internal reflectivity. This corresponds to the Antoni A and Antoni B patterns of the excised tumour.

Osteoclastogenesis is an important phenomenon in the tumor growth of maxillary neoplasms. RANK (Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor κappa B) is the signaling receptor of RANK-L (Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand) that activates the osteoclasts.
