High-Efficiency Regulation Method for a Zero-Current and Zero-Voltage Current-Fed Push–Pull Converter

2011

A new high-efficiency regulation method for a zero-current and zero-voltage current-fed push-pull converter is presented. The method proposed is based on the use of a controlled transformer as a post-regulator, which adds or subtracts an additional voltage to the output filter of the converter. An auxiliary regulator, which only handles a percentage of the output power, controls this transformer, and therefore, results in much higher efficiency than a normal preregulator would have. The novelty of the presented converter is that regulation is achieved without affecting the zero-voltage and zero-current switching in any working conditions. Small- and large-signal models of the converter have…

Dynamic modelling of a quadratic DC/DC single-switch boost converter

2017

This manuscript proposes the analysis of a Quadratic Boost Converter (QBC) transformer-less single switch typology. The state space average dynamic model and a constrained state space average model taking into account the mono-directional components of the converter (diodes, switches) have been analyzed. The static gain expression taking into consideration the parasitic elements of the converter and the small-signal transfer function of the QBC typology under study has been obtained. A sensitivity analysis has shown a high variation of the gain versus duty-cycle and of the derivative gain versus parasitic parameters of the converter in the range of the duty-cycle from 0.6 to 0.8 which is ra…

Automatic early detection of decay in citrus fruit using optical technologies and machine learning techniques

2015

Predicting breakthrough of vanadium in fixed-bed absorbent columns with complex groundwater chemistries: A multi-component granular ferric hydroxide−…

2020

Granular ferric hydroxide (GFH) is often used for fixed bed adsorbent (FBA) columns in groundwater purification units around the world to remove arsenate contaminations. Groundwater can contain also other toxic (e.g., antimonite and vanadate) and non-toxic oxo-anions (phosphate and silicic acid) that are known to affect FBA lifetimes. Therefore, understanding the breakthrough of toxic compounds intended for removal by FBA is essential to their design, and is important to predict accurately breakthrough curves (BTCs) for FBAs in waterworks to plan future operating costs. Rapid small-scale column tests (RSCCT) and pilot-scale FBA were used to simulate vanadate BTCs for complex groundwater che…

Gastrointestinal symptoms and association with medication use patterns, adherence, treatment satisfaction, quality of life, and resource use in osteo…

2016

The Medication Use Patterns, Treatment Satisfaction, and Inadequate Control of Osteoporosis Study (MUSIC-OS) is a prospective, observational study of women with osteoporosis in Europe and Canada. At baseline, patients with gastrointestinal symptoms reported lower adherence to osteoporosis treatment, treatment satisfaction, and health-related quality of life, than those without gastrointestinal symptoms. INTRODUCTION: The aim of the study was to examine gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms and the association between GI symptoms and treatment adherence, treatment satisfaction, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among osteoporotic women in Europe and Canada. METHODS: Baseline results are re…

Lipid Rafts in Higher Plant Cells

2004

A large body of evidence from the past decade supports the existence of functional microdomains in membranes of animal and yeast cells, which play important roles in protein sorting, signal transduction, or infection by pathogens. They are based on the dynamic clustering of sphingolipids and cholesterol or ergosterol and are characterized by their insolubility, at low temperature, in nonionic detergents. Here we show that similar microdomains also exist in plant plasma membrane isolated from both tobacco leaves and BY2 cells. Tobacco lipid rafts were found to be greatly enriched in a sphingolipid, identified as glycosylceramide, as well as in a mixture of stigmasterol, sitosterol, 24-methyl…
