Investigation of the hyperfine structure of weak atomic Vanadium lines by means of Fourier transform spectroscopy

In continuation of our work on the investigation of the hyperfine structure (HFS) of atomic vanadium, we analyzed weak spectral lines in a Fourier transform spectrum that have not been investigated up to now. The main objective of this work was the determination of the magnetic dipole HFS constant A of the energy level at 15 103.784 cm−1, which was the only energy level with unknown A value up to the energy of 28 000 cm−1. Additionally, other gaps in the data of magnetic dipole HFS could be filled in. The present paper deals with the evaluation of the stereoselective binding of antihistamines (brompheniramine, chlorpheniramine, hydroxyzine, orphenadrine and phenindamine), phenothiazines (promethazine and trimeprazine) and a local anesthetic (bupivacaine) to human plasma proteins. Since all of them are drugs highly bound to proteins, a methodology to determine the bound fraction of each drug enantiomer was proposed. The mould Hypocrea jecorina (Trichoderma reesei) has two genes coding for enzymes with high similarity to the NADP-dependent glycerol dehydrogenase. These genes, called gld1 and gld2, were cloned and expressed in a heterologous host. The encoded proteins were purified and their kinetic properties characterized. GLD1 catalyses the conversion of d-glyceraldehyde and l-glyceraldehyde to glycerol, whereas GLD2 catalyses the conversion of dihydroxyacetone to glycerol. Both enzymes are specific for NADPH as a cofactor. The morphological changes in rat facial muscles were evaluated after permanent denervation and were compared with findings after immediate reinnervation. Thirty rats underwent transection of the left and right facial nerves immediately followed by hypoglossal-facial nerve anastomosis on the right side (muscular reinnervation) and removal of 8-10 mm of the facial plexus on the left side (permanent muscular denervation). Levator labii muscle samples of both sides were collected sequentially at 2, 6, 7, 10, 20, and 24 weeks after surgery and submitted to routine histological and enzyme histochemical staining procedures. The results indicate that the relationship between higher education and wellbeing differs substantially between countries, with Canada standing out as an unusual case.

The focus is theoretical and empirical: The conceptual conclusions and statistical results are compared to those of human capital and utilitarian approaches, and the implications for higher education research in Canada are explored.
