Results coming from rheological analysis clearly suggest that in SEBS-g-MA-based nanocomposites, containing high amount of o-LDH, the formation of strong interactions between the dispersed nanoparticles and maleic functionalities of matrix occurs. A significant modification of the rheological behaviour can be noticed due to the formation of gel-like structures.

Graphene oxide and Fumed silica graphene oxide nanocomposites modification by thermal treatments

In the present study we investigate post synthesis thermal treatments up to 400 °C of graphene oxide (GrO) prepared from commercial graphite and of GrO–silica nanocomposites prepared by a solution of commercial Fumed silica nanoparticles (average diameter 7 nm or 40 nm) and the GrO. The thermal treatments were carried out in air, vacuum or He atmosphere to highlight tunable changes. Two GrO batches with small differences in the D (~1350 cm–1) and G (~1580 cm–1) Raman bands have been employed to evaluate effects depending on preparation. Surface enhanced Raman scattering of silver sensitized cobalt nanoparticles in metal–dielectric nanocomposites

We report the preparation of a new type of nanocomposite containing cobalt and silver nanoparticles organized in parallel layers with a well controlled separation. This arrangement allows the observation of an enhanced low-frequency Raman signal at the vibration frequency of cobalt nanoparticles excited through the surface plasmons of silver nanoparticles. Numerical simulations of the electric field confirm the emergence of hot spots when the separation between silver and cobalt nanoparticles is small enough. © IOP Publishing Ltd.
