Nontemplate Synthesis of CH3NH3PbBr3 Perovskite Nanoparticles

2014

To date, there is no example in the literature of free, nanometer-sized, organolead halide CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskites. We report here the preparation of 6 nm-sized nanoparticles of this type by a simple and fast method based on the use of an ammonium bromide with a medium-sized chain that keeps the nanoparticles dispersed in a wide range of organic solvents. These nanoparticles can be maintained stable in the solid state as well as in concentrated solutions for more than three months, without requiring a mesoporous material. This makes it possible to prepare homogeneous thin films of these nanoparticles by spin-coating on a quartz substrate. Both the colloidal solution and the thin film emit l…

Public communication of emerging sciences and technologies. Problems and challenges in the case of nanotechnology

2014

This work deals with public understanding of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Concerns about public attitudes towards both, including a lack of knowledge on the part of the general public, have lead scholars in a number of countries to conduct early studies on the social perceptions of these fields. However, this has not been the case in Spain or Latin America, where studies on the popularisation and public understanding of nanotechnology are almost non-existent. This work has a double aim. First, it seeks to contextualise and explain the Spanish situation in this regard. Second, it aims to communicate the results of a Delphi study involving nanotechnology experts (n=38) and designed to fill…

Polymer-liposome nanoparticles obtained by the electrostatic bio-adsorption of natural polymers onto soybean lecithin liposomes

2012

This work is focused on the formulation of polymer-liposome nanoparticles based on the electrostatic bio-adsorption of natural polymers onto soybean lecithin liposomes, with potential as novel delivery system for macromolecules, such as proteins. The building up of the polymer-liposome nanoparticles was achieved through the alternating bio-adsorption of natural cationic (chitosan) and neutral (dextran) or anionic (dextran sulphate or alginate) polymer layers on a core composed by anionic nanosized soybean lecithin liposomes. The electrostatic bio-adsorption of natural polymers succeeded in building nanosized, spherical, monodisperse and stable polymer-liposome nanoparticles with cumulative …

Colloids of naked CH 3 NH 3 PbBr 3 Perovskite Nanoparticles: Synthesis, Ssability, and thin solid film deposition

2018

A novel preparation of lead halide, CH3NH3PbBr3, perovskite nanoparticle solid films from colloidal "naked" nanoparticles, that is, dispersible nanoparticles without any surfactant, is reported. The colloids are obtained by simply adding potassium ions, whose counterions are both more lipophilic and less coordinating than bromide ions, to the perovskite precursor solutions (CH3NH3Br/PbBr2 in dimethylformamide) following the reprecipitation strategy. The naked nanoparticles exhibit a low tendency to aggregate in solution, and they effectively self-assembled on a substrate by centrifugation of the colloid, leading to homogeneous nanoparticle solid films with arbitrary thickness. These results…

High pressure in-situ X-ray diffraction study on Zn-doped magnetite nanoparticles

2018

We have performed high pressure synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction experiments on two different samples of Zn-doped magnetite nanoparticles (formula Fe(3-x)ZnxO4; x = 0.2, 0.5). The structural behavior of then a noparticles was studied up to 13.5 GPa for x = 0.2, and up to 17.4 GPa for x = 0.5. We have found that both systems remain in the cubic spinel structure as expected for this range of applied pressures. The analysis of the unit cell volume vs. pressure results in bulk modulus values lower than in both end-members, magnetite (Fe3O4) and zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4), suggesting that chemical disorder may favor compressibility, which is expected to improve the increase of the Neel temperatu…

Current-induced fingering instability in magnetic domain walls

2015

The shape instability of magnetic domain walls under current is investigated in a ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)(As,P) film with perpendicular anisotropy. Domain wall motion is driven by the spin transfer torque mechanism. A current density gradient is found either to stabilize domains with walls perpendicular to current lines or to produce finger-like patterns, depending on the domain wall motion direction. The instability mechanism is shown to result from the non-adiabatic contribution of the spin transfer torque mechanism.

Emotions and epistemology: a path for reconsideration in the 21st century

2017

The present paper explores the gap between sensations and emotions in the global capitalism. We held the thesis that there are diverse ways to systematise the theoretical orientations on which the studies on the body/emotion are based; a possible one, having in mind the Latin American context and without intent of exhaustiveness, is the following: a) a line of work connected to Foucault and his concepts of control, discipline, and technologies of the self; b) an approach connected to Bourdieu and his notions of habitus, body hexis, and social fields; c) a set of investigations in the field of biopolitics referring to Esposito and Agamben on the one hand, and to Negri and Hardt on the other;…
