1210-5759; We have previously isolated from the beetle Tenebrio molitor, cDNAs coding for two glycine-rich cuticular proteins named ACP-20, ACP-22 and ACP-17 and an alanin-rich cuticular protein named LPCP-22. The ACP-20, ACP-22, ACP-17 mRNAs are detected by Northern blot and In situ hybridization analysis only in epidermal regions secreting heavily sclerotized cuticle during the pharate adult stage.The LPCP-22 mRNA is detected in most epidermal regions during the secretion of larval and pupal cuticles. Acinos is a small genus of economically important plants belonging to Lamiaceae family whose botanical collocation is quite problematic due to the disagreement among the botanists and the presence in literature of several names and synonyms from different sources. In the present study the chemical composition of the essential oil from aerial parts of Acinos alpinus subsp. nebrodensis (Strobl) Brullo & Brullo collected in Central Sicily was analyzed by GC-MS. The influence of litter size and sex on meat quality traits was investigated using 40 Nebrodi kids slaughtered at 47 days of age. Carcass measurements (body components, carcass joints, pelvic limb tissue composition, meat fatty acid composition and M. longissimus dorsi (LD) colour), body weight at birth and at slaughter were evaluated. Nebrodi kids had a low body weight at birth, with significant differences between male and female (4.1 kg versus 3.9 kg) and between single and twin (4.2 kg versus 3.8 kg). AbstractMany patients suffering from chronic respiratory diseases rely on inhalation therapy with nebulizers. About 25% of patients who need to inhale several different drugs per day save time by mixing them for simultaneous inhalation. This review presents a comprehensive overview of the available data concerning physico-chemical compatibility of commonly mixed nebulizer solutions and suspensions. Information is based on our in vitro studies and a thorough literature search.Results indicate that many nebulizer solutions/suspensions are mixable without provoking incompatibilities. Metabolic fluxes and l-lysine synthesis by Corynebacterium glutamicum in relation to cellular total reducing activity

Abstract The total reducing activity (TRA) of cells was used to estimate the physiological activity of Corynebacterium glutamicum under conditions of l -lysine synthesis. This was estimated as the rate of reduction of 2,3,5- triphenyltetrazolium chloride by intact cells. TRA of cells was linearly correlated with the intracellular concentrations of RNA and the bacterial growth rate. It was concluded that this activity reflected the rate of energy generation in cells. A decrease in TRA of growing cells was related to an increase in bacterial lysine synthesis activity.
