Functional a posteriori error estimates for boundary element methods

Functional error estimates are well-established tools for a posteriori error estimation and related adaptive mesh-refinement for the finite element method (FEM). The present work proposes a first functional error estimate for the boundary element method (BEM). One key feature is that the derived error estimates are independent of the BEM discretization and provide guaranteed lower and upper bounds for the unknown error. In particular, our analysis covers Galerkin BEM and the collocation method, what makes the approach of particular interest for scientific computations and engineering applications. Numerical experiments for the Laplace problem confirm the theoretical results.

Abstract English lessons have been compulsory in French medical schools since the 18th March 1992 bill. Objectives: The aim of this work is to describe the characteristics of this teaching programme as it exists in 2005. Methods: A questionnaire designed by experts in the teaching of medical English was sent to the 41 medical schools in Metropolitan France. The questionnaire covered five different areas (the number of hours of lessons, of students and of teachers; evaluation and marking methods; lesson contents and pedagogical methods; student and teacher profiles; the teaching of English for postgraduate students). Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tarkastella reaalipalkkojen suhdannevaihtelua sekä aggregaattipalkkojen vaihtelussa esiintyvän työmarkkinarakenteen muutoksista syntyvän harhan lähteitä ja voimakkuutta. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan myös eroja eri sukupuolten sekä ammattiasemien palkkojen vaihtelussa. Reaalipalkkojen suhdannevaihtelun tutkimus on ollut miltei koko viime vuosisadan makrotaloustieteen näkökulmasta kiinnostavaa, sillä makrotaloustieteelliset mallit ovat joutuneet kehittymään selittämään vaihtelevia tutkimustuloksia. National audience; À l’occasion des récentes fouilles archéologiques réalisées dans la plaine de la Tille, au sud-est de Dijon (Bourgogne), une approche luridisciplinaire croisant micromorphologie, palynologie et paléoparasitologie, a été mise en oeuvre. Son objet était d’exploiter au mieux les informations piégées dans le remplissage de structures creusées entre le Néolithique moyen et l’Antiquité, sachant que ces structures constituentsouvent les seuls vestiges de ces occupations passées. Les premiers résultats de cette approche permettent de discuter différents points touchant aux modalités d’occupation et à la dynamique environnementale.
