Remarks on negative interest rates

Negative nominal interest rates have been observed in several segments of financial markets. Being only partly a result of supply and demand and mainly enforced by the central banks, negative interest rates are getting more and more popular. While it is relatively easy to identify the reasons for this quite strange phenomenon, the con-sequences, especially the long-term consequences, are not too clear for both scientists and ordinary observers. This paper is an attempt to formulate some remarks on causes, evidence, and possible effects of negative interest rates. A warning is issued, with respect to monetary policy and financial stability.

Exploring dark creativity: the role of power in an unethical marketing task

Creativity is seen as a significant driver for successful marketing activities. However, little attention is paid to its shady side and little research on the prerequisites for unethical behaviour of marketing experts and executives is on hand. In our experimental study, we examine the mutual influence of power, honesty-humility, and benevolent creativity as predictors for ‘dark creativity’ (the use of creative ideas for malevolent actions). Denne publiseringen viser hvordan elever bruker digitale teknologier og medier for å hente inntrykk, informasjon og kunnskap om ulike samfunnsforhold. Videre diskuteres hvordan elevenes bruk av ny teknologi påvirker deres engasjement og deltagelse i samfunnet. Diskusjonen bygger på en empirisk studie av samfunnsfagselever i den videregående skolen i Vest-Agder. Datamaterialet består av både observasjoner, intervjuer og serveymateriale. The first research question is about how three different textbooks for grade 10 presents the Pythagorean theorem through different representations. These representations are geometric, algebraic and textual. The textbooks are Tetra, Faktor and Maximum. The precision of individual representations and the precision between representations is studied. The chronology in the presentation of the representations has also been studied.
